His speed is eye popping (has to have a B2B under 2) and he thrives off of physical play. His hockey sense is just worrisome.

Just off his natural tools, speed and strength, he could become a really nice bottom sixer we really love.

His hockey sense has to get better and he has to slow things down, if not he won't be long for the NHL.
This sounds a lot like 2008 Pascal Dupuis. If he turns out to be that player (for sure a bottom sixer), I'll still be happy.

Ya I thought of that awhile back, but Dupuis put up over 70 then 100 points his last years in the Q. It's different leagues, but Mac hasn't shown he can score consistently like that yet.

For now let's just say he has some nice potential if he puts it all together, but chances are high he won't.

He is an interesting guy because of his unreal speed, but unless you are a hardcore prospect watcher, I would definitely caution being excited about him until he shows more consistency.

Well, wish he had picked the Penguins, but the Ducks are just about the best non-Penguins option, in my mind.

The top college players remaining:

Ryan Walters, Junior, Left Wing/Centre, Nebraska-Omaha (6’0″ 196 lbs)

Mark Zengerle, Junior, Centre, Wisconsin, (5’11″ 178 lbs):

The most offensively gifted and top player left has to be ryan walters, read from a couple of scouts thats he has great hands, vision, skating and plays like hes 6'4, he improved from back to back seasons of -30 and -22 in the ushl to +26 in his third ncaa season. Still only 21.

I agree that Walters would be a nice get. I think he can still go back to school though. It wouldn't surprise me if he does since I haven't heard a lot of buzz about him signing anywhere.

Didn't Schmidt sign with the Caps?

Walters seems to be flying under the radar. has a 91 born who put up 52 points this year. Hes a year younger than Laganiere. Doesnt have the size of him tho.

Committed a lot of money to Perry and Getzlaf though, he's probably thinking they'll be happy to let him develop in the NHL because of the need for cap flexibility.

As for Mac being discussed before, if he can stay healthy, he'll be a 4th liner at worst I think. His willingness to be physical and his speed would be killer on the forecheck. Maybe lacking the hockey awareness, but Tyler Kennedy has proven that speed and willingness with some semblance of hockey ability makes a decent bottom six player.

I think that's an overly optimistic prediction. Even being healthy, as Jiggy has mentioned, Marcantuoni needs to improve in a lot of areas before we should ever consider him a legitimate NHL prospect. It's not just his health that's a concern at this point.

Folks sometimes forget that even NHL 4th liners were productive junior players. Talbot, Kennedy, Dupuis, Cooke, all were guys who were top line players for their junior clubs. So even though their offensive games didn't translate to top line players in the NHL, at the junior level they showed some kind of ability with the puck.

Marcantuoni still hasn't shown he's capable of being a consistent top six forward in junior. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any current NHLers -- even bottom six guys -- who weren't even top six forwards when they were in junior (not including enforcers).

At this point, I'd say it's closer to a "at best" scenario rather than a "at worst" of Marcantuoni becoming a 4th line NHL player.

Eh. Walters plays with Archibald, and Archie is the straw that stirs the drink on that line.

Walters is a Pens type of guy, hard working 2-way player, etc etc...I guess if Ray is still looking to sign a prospect, he wouldn't be that bad of an option. But at this point, I am happy with what the team has for now. Outside of the draft of course.

Was Marcantuoni an ATO or what?
