Kessel doesn't break out even though he buzzes and plays all around. This is who we are going to pay 6+ million to!?
Wouldn't both of those things be true? Disappearing act against Boston (22GP 3 goals), Philly (25 GP 3 goals), Rangers (22GP 3 goals), Pittsburgh (26GP 9 goals), Washington (23GP 5 goals). Is that the guy you want on your team earning 7 Million+ a year after next year?

Always does what he's asked to do, no matter who he's playing with.

Let's not be so biased.

Show the points too. He plays fine against PIT: 26 GP 21 points, Washington: 23 GP 16 P.

This .. Especially with Kovy out, NJ will lean hard on their system to prevent the Leafs from scoring .. The Leafs will need good outlet passes and puck movement to get scoring chances and prevent NJ from creating neutral zone turnovers

Hopefully Orr can win a fight tonight, hes lost a few as of late.

Gonna be weird watching a CBC HNIC between the Leafs and Devs haha, either way, should be a good game.

But Kessel is a one-dimensional sniper, and should only be judged on his goals.

C'mon he's clearly multi-dimensional, he can score and pass.

So Frattin is sitting because the Leafs have to play two punchers? Ugh. Even having one is already too much.

When I was younger and played sports, my father always told me assists are more important than goals

p.s. I understand your frustration, and I'm a huge Kessel fan, lol. He is what he is and unlike other players, the Leafs won't have any problems moving him if they decide to as they'll find a home for him very quickly.

So a good player has a harder time playing against...

Bos/Nyr - The two best team's in the EC defensively the last few years
Pit - Best overall team in the EC the last few years
Wsh - I don't even know why you mentioned them, it's sort of random.

I agree with you that Kessel is streaky, but I think anyone will have a harder time scoring against the best EC teams defensively + the best overall team + 1 random team they don't do well against.

He doesn't deserve to be in the lineup right now. The only way he can generate anything (except for points) is by playing with Kadri, and without him, hes useless.

Nice. My dad told me...

You can't guarantee scoring a goal, but can always guarantee to beat the **** out of someone.

Elite players find ways to make things happen. Kessel isn't the one for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I think we're in trouble if we're expecting him to be our number 1 source of offense for the foreseeable future while earning 8 million a year.

@jonasTSN1050: Lines vs. NJ: JVR-Bozak-Kessel. MacArthur-Kadri-Kulemin. McClement-Grabovski-Komarov. Hamilton/McLaren-Colborne-Orr.

Yup so my prediction was right.

I learned here those are the only 2 dimensions that count for an offensive player and everything else should be ignored.
