The Official Duncan Siemens Appreciation Thread

Not sure that Landeskog gets one and he doesn't
Yup you saw that correct, comparable to Chris Pronger. Best scenario anyways lol.

Excited about him as well. Give him another year or 2 in the WHL, but he's going to be a nice vice to Elliott/Barrie.

I see him as a Braydon Cobourn type. #3 defenceman capable of 35 points with great D.

Feel he will be every bit as big as the Landy pick. Really happy!

Quincey (6'1) -- EJ (6'4)
Siemans (6'3) -- OB (6'6)
Gaunce (6'2) -- Wilson (6'1)
Elliot (6'1)

Very happy with this pick as well. Hopefully the bad report concerning his hockey sense is only due to him being very young. God knows we need a dman like this in our farm. Still not happy we didn't get Klefbom though.

I am very happy and excited for this pick! RS was gushing over him for the longest time, so I decided to do some investigative work on my own time and think he will play a big role on the Avs down the road. Size and grit! FINALLY!

Welcome to Colorado, Duncan!

Renegade, I'm sure you have discussed this before, but can you give us any tidbits on Siemens that haven't already been talked about? What is your honest assessment of this kid? I honestly get the feeling this kid is a bit off his rocker, in a good way

I hope we don't have another Keaton Ellerby on our hands.

I see a development curve charting through the AHL.

I think we see him in 2013-14 or 2014-15

Wow that's far away.

You'll have to condemn the entire NHL if you do that. Pro hockey players are notorious for their abhorrently bad taste in music. Cam Ward even had a Nickelback goalie mask until enough people laughed at him and he changed it.

Oh dear...don't be bringing up names like that. Now I'm worried.

In all seriousness, both our picks today addressed serious needs. We didn't have players like Lando and Siemens anywhere in the system. I think he's going to work out just fine.

I'm a strange guy when it comes to the draft.

Leading up to the draft I'm the biggest hyper for a ton of players. But the minute they get drafted I become very critical of them usually.

I do it so I don't get disappointed or let down I think

I hope the best for all our guys obviously. And you know what if Siemens ends up as a #4 or #5 defender who plays good and hard but isn't spectacular I'll be fine. He addressed a key need and if he can fill his role I'll be more than happy to have passed a boom/bust guy like Murphy.

Landeskog has a veeery broad potential range but that's beyond the scope of this thread.

Well...can't blame them entirely. Thanks to that stupid "Can-Con" law they hear enough Nickelback to make a sane person want to tear their ears off with their bare hands. A number of my Canadian friends bristle at the very mention of Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, or Barenaked Ladies.
