yeah, its nice to have so many options in this deep draft, there might be a couple dozen combos of players I'd be pretty happy with.

As far as drafting him... I think high skilled players who look for contact are rare at the junior level.

I also think it's rare to see someone improve their skating as much as Erne has. His career path shows a pure desire to reach his goals.

I think he has a Bobby Ryan type of ceiling, or even if he doesn't reach sky high potential, he'll be a Erik Cole type of player... a true power forward with goal scorers hands.

To me, Erne's game translates very easily.
Agreed on Erne. Every time I've watched him play I've been impressed with his game including the CHL top prospects game. He's got great wheels, a big shot and he throws his body around(anyone calling him a finesse player has never watched him play). I don't think I'd take him at 8, but at 16 I would without a doubt (so called expert rankings be damned). Ideally I'd like something like Monahan and Erne in this draft. Then hopefully next year we're in the running for Ekblad or Mckeown.

Their are so many options at 8 and 16, and they all see to be good ones.

Pure offensive guys, Powerforwards, offensive defenceman, big 2 way centers ect..

Their are about 10 guys I would be happy with at #16 atleast.

I think we will see definite movement by darth on draft day. I think there's certainly a chance miller or vanek is moved, and if not there will be movement with our extra picks to acquire high end talent. Darcy is probly looking at pit and Chicago and how they built their team up. I think anything we can do to grab multiple top picks is the way to go. If its simply not available then do the closest thing to it.

Maybe we can trade a pick for a higher pick plus someone's roster dump that we can buyout. Is someone looking to win now, has a high pick, and has cap trouble? We have to look from their shoes to even bother picking up the phone and that's who I'm callin. Perhaps Tampa?

I like Monahan... :shug:
That's why I like the idea of trading with Carolina.

1. Col - Seth Jones
2. Fla - Jonathan Drouin
3. Tam - Nate Mackinnon
4. Nas - Aleksander Barkov
5. Buf (from Car) - Elias Lindholm
6. Cal - Sean Monahan
7. Edm - Rasmus Ristolainen
8. Car (from Buf) - Darnell Nurse

Ive been a huge Monahan guy for a while, but with Hodgson, Grigorenko, Girgensons and Larsson, unless someone is going to the wing, id like to see Hunter Shinkaruk

If the draft goes like this:
1.Jones
2.Mackinnon
3.Drouin
4.Barkov
5.Lindholm (could see them move down or take a D)
6.Monahan
7.Ristolainen

I would pick Nichushkin, hes a risk but if he comes over he could become a STUD.

with 16 any of the big Q guys would be great Gauthier/Zykov/Mantha/Erne.

If these players develop close to expectations, they could slot in...

XXXXX-Hodgson-XXXXX
XXXXX-Grigorenko-XXXXX
Larsson-Monahan-XXXXX
XXXXX-Girgensons-XXXXX

If Monahan becomes worthy of a top six role, then it's to Buffalo's advantage that he or another C get mis-matches in a 3rd line role. If Girgensons or Larsson become worthy of more mins, then slot them higher up on the wing (like you said). Monahan also happens to be pretty awesome at faceoffs, so even if positional need were greater at wing I think Monahan is the better pick.

Either of Girgensons or Larsson could slide to the wing.

Boat loads of offensive skill + very fast and shifty. Based solely on highlights and commentary form people who've watch him ore than I have, it sounds like he has no problem getting into the high traffic/dirty areas despite not having great size.

I'm sold...wow. Very impressive player.

Agree with the other posters, there are so many guys I'd love to have in the #8 spot.

At 8, I'd say we go BPA unless we are able to move up, in which case we also go BPA.This could mean Lindholm, Monohan, Ristolainen, Nichushkin, etc. At 16, we hope Shinkaruk is still available, or we trade up, ala Girgensons, and grab him. We desperately need RW scoring on this team in the coming years. My personal choices would be Risto and Shinkaruk. Down the road that gives us...

Foligno-Hodgson-Armia
Girgs-Larrson-Leino
Ennis-Grigs-Shinkaruk
Tropp-Catenacci-Ott
(lines were haphazardly thrown together)

Ristolainen-Myers (The potential, unnnngggghhh)
Ehrhoff-Sekera
McCabe-Pysyk
Weber/McNabb

If you ask me, that is a dope lineup, and this draft has the potential to set us up to have a great team for the next decade.

IMO we need to get some speed in our top 6 prospect pool. Last few years there's been more of a focus on size, which was most certainly needed...but the pendulum has shifted too much. Aside from maybe Catenacci, we don't really have any one who might become a top 6 forward who can really fly. I'd love to see us add a speedster with top 6 potential to the mix.

Speed would be great -- any sort of dynamic skill from skating to shooting to passing would be most welcome. There are plenty of guys to like. Listening to Devine's comments in that one video about Monahan, he clearly likes him (granted, he likes a lot of these guys).

Think darcy could pull off having 2 top 8 picks this year?

1) Trade Miller Sekera Min 1st Overall, our early 2nd and 3rnd this year and a 2nd in 2014 to tampa bay for malone and 3rd overall

2) Trade Sekera Mcnabb Min 1st overall our early 2nd and 3rd this year and 2nd in 2014 for 5th overall and a cap dump if needed

i may be off but ya never no darcy wants a few top players this year.

No thanks. Miller won't go to Tampa Bay for one.

As for the second, I think Carolina would rather have an elite player than what that package offers.

I don't see any of the top 5, arguably top 6 picks being traded. There's a reason people liken this to the 2003 draft, which produced several superstars. Teams want their shot at these types of players.

If we ever are in such a position as we need Foligno in top line LW we will be battling for 1st overall pick.

Am I reading this right?!? Two trade scenarios that give up the kitchen sink to move up 5 or 3 spots? Let me straighten this out...

1) For Malone and the 3rd pick, Sekera and both Buffalo 1st rd picks should do (if TB even considers the idea).

2) For the 5th pick and a cap dump, Sekera and #16, or both Buffalo's 1st rd picks should do.

Why you want to give away another player and two more picks?

DR stated on HH today that he is attempting to move up in the draft and that he had a conversation with another team yesterday.
