Guess I'll throw the gear in the car just in case.
Seriously the injuries this year have been amplified by the compressed schedule. I also think there have been more injuries overall in the league because of the schedule. Good news is we get some younger players a little experience, bad news is it really makes the playoffs that much more difficult to get into.
Maybe the hockey goddess will smile on us and let us win the lottery.
on one hand, our system is bankrupt on top four defensemen, outside of Ekholm...but at the same time, I trust our ability to find defensemen in later rounds more than I do forwards, so I would hate to "waste" a first overall on Seth Jones(someone I'm not a huge fan of,) then again, it would go a long way toward closing the gaping Suter wound.
If we somehow landed the number 1 overall pick, you have to think Poile seriously consideres Mackinnon instead of Jones, or offers the number 1 to the team picking 2nd....
And looking at the standings, the Preds could just as easily finish thirteenth as top 5. Most likely scenario is right around 8. Then again, the remaining schedule looks brutal.
With the schedule and roster we have now top 5 is not such a longshot now. Even though i really hate watching us lose I would love to see get Drouin or possible Nichuskin if Polie is feeling ballsy enough to take a risk on another Russian
What, are we becoming Milwaukee South?! I say bring on FF! Give him a try. Other teams seem to play their 18-19-20 year old players. I say if he can play then play'em! Unless we decide to play say 9-10 defensive players or say two goalies...
