Emery & Crawford have nearly identical numbers the past two years.

To me they simply reflect the quality of the team's play.

I only caught the third but Handzus is looking like a really good pickup right about now especially with Bolland out and Kruger didn't look out of place on the second line. I'd like to see what he can do with Sharp on the other wing for an extended stretch of time.

Again.... remember how we all were worried sick at the beginning of the season about our goaltending situation?

Good times.

The PK was simply amazing on that 4 min Pred PP

Did Preds even get a SOG during that PP?

Not the most entertaining game Hawks have played this year. The good news is Hawks can clinch a playoff spot today if Edmonton loses against LA.

I missed the 1st and half of the 2nd, but the Hawks didn't seem to give Nashville anything. Very solid game.

Agreed on both counts. Kruger had a very good game. Third line looked great together, first line was clicking as always, Emery was big; good game all around.

No. Toews got a shorthanded shot and that was it.

Really good game overall. The Hawks probably should have won easier, but they didn't finish most of their chances. Emery was very good when needed. As I said in the GDT - IMO the Hawks need to give him a shot at taking over the job.

So what happens with the lines when Sharp/Bolland come back? I think Kruger was more effective than Bolland on the 2nd line, and Handzus looked like a 3rd liner instead of a 4th liner today...

Saad/Toews/Hossa
Sharp/Kruger/Kane
Bickell/Bolland/Frolik
Shaw/Handzus/Carcillo

Probably looks like that in my mind... hopefully Bolland doesn't come back to the 2nd line. Kruger was capable there.

If Sharp doesn't play C

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Kruger-Kane
Bickell-Handzus-Stalberg
Shaw-Bolland-Frolik

Carcillo/Mayers reserves

Blackhawks can clinch a playoff spot tonight with losses by Coyotes (any) and Oilers (in regulation).

or a PHO shootout win. EVen if they win in a SO, mathematically they can, at best, tie Hawks in points at end of season and tie ROW. It goes to head to head points which Hawks win

Kind of nice that we don't have to sweat out making the playoffs

A win is a win, but it's a worry to me that ops are able to dictate and play their game, especially in the 3rd. Hawks are pretty good at checking but their game was not played today, Preds was. And let's not pretend, Pred's were one or two bounces away from tying or winning this game, which is a joke.

As for the Hawks: Handzus played well again and Carcillo is rounding into form. I think his best game in quite a while. Seabs has taken a lot of criticism here but he has been good at knowing when to jump into the play. That could pay dividends in the PO's when goals are at a premium. Emery played well - he got a few breaks, and importantly he didn't let in a softy! Hawks have 11 games to sharpen their game for the PO's.

The shots were 7-7 and the Preds also had a 4 min PP in 3rd

The Preds did not dictate play

And if you want to talk about bounces ,, How about the Kane wide open shot that 99% of time doesn't miss? Or Frolik's EN attempt that was prevented by Pred , etc , etc

Yup.

Preds had a few chances in the last couple mins of the game but that's typically the case in a 1-goal game.

Shots were 30-20. Hawks dominated as they have each game against Nashville.

Yeah, I mean, I consider myself a pretty level-headed and realistic observer and call things how I see them; far from rose-colored glasses, and I didn't see any instance in this game other than maybe at the very end with a final frenzied rush that Nashville carried anything today. I actually thought the score was very much not the story of the game and didn't show how well the Hawks were playing. At all. I can't speak for the St. Louis game because I couldn't watch it, but I saw nothing about today's game that told me "Nashville's really dictating this thing".

missed the early starting time but thanks to gamecenter that's no problem

Liked the team play and team D. Preds Offense just isn't good. I still say they should trade Blum or Josi for a real forward
