Gaunce is a '94 birthday, which means its the NHL or OHL for him.

Derek Joslin is a RFA which means he'll likely be back on the farm, unless they keep him on the NHL roster as depth.

Darren Archibald will likely be on that team.

They'll need to pick up a couple of top line caliber AHL forwards to put together a team that isn't killed every night. TJ Hensick played for the Rivermen last season and is now a UFA. He's been a PPG+ player the last four AHL seasons and would be a nice player to bring into the fold.

Steven Anthony sadly has a contract that also includes next year. After that, he'll be let go for sure.

I think Archibald will be in the mix on one of those forward lines, probably Sweatt as well, and maybe Myron.
Peter Andersson has a contract for next season, don't worry.

Also, scratch McEneny from the roster, he's OHL bound next season.

I think the roster on the website consists of the team plus the black aces.

Andersson is listed in the main roster along with several other prospects.

He's a 94. He has to play there, he's not going to make the NHL roster.

Hmmm, I wonder where I was getting that Gaunce and McEneny being ready age wise for the A. Completely forgot about Joslin and Archibald.

I don't know anything about Hensick but sounds like a start for what the Canucks need to start filling out the farm roster. I would think finding a centre for Jensen would be very important.

Sorry if this has been asked but do we know who the Comets GM will be - or will the Canucks hockey operations cover the Comets as well?

Also do we get a new ECHL affiliate in all of this?

This just came out today:

Quote:
One of the many things on the Canucks' to-do list this summer is staff the hockey operations department for their new AHL team in Utica, NY.

Former NHL goalie Robert Esche figures to be team president and in charge of business operations for the Utica Comets.

But the Canucks will run the hockey operations side of the business and that likely means hiring a general manager or promoting someone already on staff.

"We have not yet determined how the Comets' management team will be structured," said assistant general manager Laurence Gilman.

Near the utica area. Utica College hockey plays there. Sells out the time. Going to be a great place to play and the Comets will have the stadium full at all times. Hopefully it all works o ut!

Has it been confirmed that Arniel is back as the head coach?

Hearing Karl Taylor will be the general manager of the Utica Comets.

News1130 Sports ‏@News1130Sports 3h
Taylor was an assistant coach with Craig McTavish with the Chicago Wolves. Was coaching Ontario Reign in ECHL.

News1130 Sports ‏@News1130Sports 3h

Hearing Scot Arniel may not be the coach in Utica. Lot of good candidates out there.

I could see Arniel catching on either with Ruff in Dallas or AV in New York or maybe even in Washington now that they've jettisoned Tim Hunter.

According to their Wikipedia page it's still Kalamazoo. It's possible that affiliation switches to the Blues now that the Wolves are with them. Although, the agreement between the K-wings and Wolves was only for a year, so maybe we'll see a new deal signed between K-zoo and Utica instead?

i think the only reason that arniel wouldn't be in utica is because he will be an assistant in vancouver.

Haha, I know that feeling. But I really don't know what to make of him as an AHL coach considering what happened this past year. There were a lot of bizarre decisions - especially the goaltending - and I'm not sure if the Wolves had something to do with all of them.
