I'm well past regarding Arniel as a good coach, let alone a good developmental coach. I hope he isn't brought over to the Peoria team.

I liked what I saw but I didn't watch the whole period and when I did only with one eye. I'll be watching the 2nd and 3rd fully though so I'll post full reports.

Lines seem to be (getting switched around a bit)

Sterling Schroeder Gordon

Haydar Matsumoto Sweatt

Archibald Kattelus Grenier

Jensen Friesen Davies

Defense

Blain
Groulx
Matheson
Hunt
Regner
Sauve

Grenier had a couple of good rushes and got off some good shots. Almost scored when he tired to go high on the stick side but goalie made a good save with his shoulder

Wolves had a 5 on 3 but bungled it away. Matsumoto kept uselessly trying to jam the puck in from the side of the net rather than moving the puck to the open man. Overall Matsumoto has done little. However Arniel plays him continuously

Play of Schroeder has fallen off. Doesn't seem to have the same energy. Maybe long season catching up with him.

Jensen had a brutal period. Made another horrible and aimless pass to the middle which created an open chance for Checkers. Just beating the puck to death at times

Sweatt talking about his lack of finish. Says he is working on it. During the period Sweatt took an obvious hooking penalty and then got 2 more for arguing. Arneil needs to have these guys better focused than that

During the latter part of the period, Climie had to make a couple of good stops on pucks directed at him by Haydar. Just another indication of the sloppy effort by Haydar.

not sure if Schroeder playing with AHL plugs is the best.......and jensen on the fourth line wasted......Jensen and Schroeder need to play together.....how is Frisen better than Mallet?????? Arniel will cost the Wolves a playoff spot

Grenier looks good coming off the win and shooting but just made a bad play not getting the puck. Now takes a penalty

Kattelus had open break but just drilled into the goalie. Sort of typifies the lack of skill throughout much of the line up.

Sloppy play around the Wolves net . Climie holding them in.

Arniel has balanced the defensive play of his lines somewhat with this juggling but now there's even less offense than they had before. Schroeder and Sterling simply don't have chemistry together. Haydar and Sweatt don't either.

Sterling just brutal on the PP. When they finally got some control Haydar missed a couple open nets. Some good work by Archibald and Matsumoto created chances.

Better period for Matsumoto. Made some good set ups but Wolves just can't beat this goalie.

Hunt was terrible on the PP. Terrible decision making and never creating angles for passes or shots. Puck movement on the PP not good enough. Passes to the point forcing the defenseman outside the blue line. Very poor puck handling by people like Sterling.

Talking about the collaboration b/w the Canucks and Wolves

Arneil say he was trying to put in a system few players have played. The one used in Vancouver. It's a system that is not used by many other teams. Wonders if system suited personal by the sound of it. Says they kind of believed in system and they sold it to players and players mostly bought it. Lots of plays to the outside - system designed to allow smaller player to be successful. Too many changes in players, however, to properly allow the system to be integrated.

Says new guys being dropped in means starting from scratch with them

Says Archibald has really improved and said Andersson did well. Says Kattelus has come from nowhere to develop into good player (not really seeing that myself - think he is very limited)

Says he has borrowed back and forth with AV. Says he has his own system and puts in his own wrinkles.

Sounds like problems result from the need to introduce a new system with so many changes. Maybe one of the problems with Haydar and, why he stands out to me be as being out of sync with the rest, is that he doesn't really buy in to this system or hasn't adapted to it very well

Schroeder gets them even. Great job to turn that into a 3-on-2 earlier which then made the Checkers scramble to find their man and then gets a tip in front of the net.

He's out now. Think it was just because of post-PK shifts. Grenier was moved down a line though.

Poor play Sweatt - one of their defensemen had no stick and he ices the puck on a very poor pass. Wolves seem to make a lot bad decisions in those situations

Very nice moves by Jensen to cut into the slot and get a great chance. No support by his linemates to finish on the rebound though.

Sloppy but entertaining. Chances all over the place.

Jensen is going - need to be moved up and given a chance with better lines.
