Oily Runaway Bride

Story:

Justin Schultz is visiting Anaheim for the first time since runing away from us in the past summer. He was there all the time, expet for the contract signing, and he even pretended that he`ll sign, leaving Anaheim with nothing, even when they would get at least a pick from Oilers. Anyone knows this story, so no need to remind it.
Even though, Schultz don`t have a reputation of screwing a lot of teams, we had enough with that one runaway he made.

The Ducks so far have won 2 of their first 3 games on their 5 game home stand. With a win tonight we can`t yet clinch a playoff spot but we would come very close to it.

The Oilers have droped the last 2 games (against Kings and Canucks), with goal difference 1:8 in those games. They won 5 games in a row befor those 2 games, though. The Oilers are currently 4 points behind 8th place Detroit but have a game in hand. However, the Dallas and Phoenix also stands betwen them and Detroit.

Advanced stats:

Oilers is the only team in the NHL that haven`t yet won 1000 faceoffs this season. But we shouldn`t be too happy about it since we are pretty terrible at them too.

We have got 2 points out of last 2 games and opponents have got 3. See, in a full season of NHL, we would not be a playoff team with this kind of record. What a joke, we are just lucky and that`s it.

Lineup:

Justin Shultz
Mike Brown

Getzlaf not expected to play tonight according to Stephens.

I'd expect Hiller to get the nod.

Hoping we dress Staubitz.

Time for some headhunting.

Dress a goon, I don't care who it is. But take the little punk out cold. Make him suffer every second he is on the ice. I want to see him scared. I want to see him hiding underneath the bench. Just make sure this little ***** will get everything he deserves and then some.

It really is too bad Getzlaf isn't playing. He's a hard but clean hitter. I don't want any dirty plays but do hope Schultz is checked at every opportunity.

I think everyone should show up with a "Justin Schultz=Dishonorable" sign.

I can't think of anything more scathing to put on a sign that won't just be dismissed as juvenile. It has some weight to it. Any reasonable person who knows about what happened w/Schultz, and what he said in his interviews after signing w/Edmonton and everything could probably agree that if nothing else, Schultz was indeed dishonorable in the way he handled everything.

I can't make it to the game tonight, but hopefully some of you can hold that sign up for me!

The little puke deserves it!

This... nothing dirty, just make him hurt with good clean hockey plays.

How about just "dishonorable" and nothing else?

Has Schultz had his first NHL fight yet? If not, I think Beleskey will help out with that.

Agreed on the ''clean'' part.

I don`t want us to end his career with some bonehead plays, but hard hits, more than often, should come. However i could see that not coming. I don`t think Bruce and our players will do that, actually.

What we can do, from a fan standpoint, is to go creative in HC tonight and every other single night Schultz is visiting.

We should make him feel miserable every time he plays us, and if team doesn`t do that, at least fans should do something

Few tweets from Stephens..

Eric Stephens ‏@icemancometh

Also appears as if Sami Vatanen has been recalled from AHL Norfolk. Just hit the ice. Has 8-36-44 +1 in 59 games with Admirals.

Eric Stephens ‏@icemancometh

Ryan Getzlaf (leg) take a couple of spins around the ice before the optional. I'm no trainer but didn't look like he could push very hard.
Interesting. I assume Vatanen was recalled to help our horrible horrible powerplay without Getzlaf.

I think eenok just reached the threshold for generating his action potential in his pants and is now repolarizing with that tweet right there (sorry I'm in neuro... seemed topical)

Looks like Getzlaf is taking part in the morning optional. A good sign, perhaps? #getzywatch

Hopefully good news then

Think playing Edmonton would be a good fit for Vatanen, not many big forwards, less chance of getting dominated by them. Hopefully his defensive game has improved a bit.

EDIT: Confirmed by Ducks

Anaheim Ducks ‏@AnaheimDucks 2m
Ryan Getzlaf on the ice this morning for an optional skate at Honda Center.

He will not fight. Beleskey in that situation would only get us a lot of PK minutes for instagator.

As much as we all hate Schultz, i have no reason to believe we will do something on the ice.

I sent some tweets to Bobby and Beleskey to remind them to finish their checks.

Also may have sent one to the King. Little baby will probably block me now.

I want to see guys finishing their checks tonight, especially against you know who, but we need to stay disciplined. The last thing we want is Schultz scoring a goal against us on that deadly Edmonton PP.

The last thing we want is to make Schultz look like the victim.
