I disagree. We have scouts that give their analysis on here. We have people that are famous who look at these boards for information on players and prospects.

These sites attract both hardcore and normal fans and it's not hard to believe hardcore fans have connections, mainly because they are hardcore and their love of the team/game go beyond just internet forums. I'm trying to get a gig at the score for instance.

Don't like the information that Spezza is behind Karlsson injury timeframe. I don't mind it if what was said (that both may return) is believed.

Maybe he does too, but take backdoorpass as by far the best source around these boards. So when he says something...

Found this out last night from a source:

"Spezza has definitely had a setback. He's in more pain and taking meds which will hopefully alleviate the pain. It's not know whether the meds will help, until 2+ weeks from now. There is mild-growing concern that the surgery wasn't successful."

I wouldn't read too much into it. Information changes meaning when passed and interpreted over many sources.

I'm very familiar with that surgery, as one of my close friends had it last year. When the original Spezza time table came out, with both said "ya that's impossible".

These doctors are good, but back surgery can be an immense struggle to recover from.

I have a herniated disc in my back, and I saw an orthopedic surgeon in the USA (was there for work) and he told me that the surgery I was looking at was 50/50 at best.

Some of you really need to get over the "source" thing.

Ottawa is a small place. The team is heavily involved in the community. Lots of the guys have kids that are in schools, play sports, go to the doctor, etc, etc, etc.

Also in this day and age where everyone has an iPhone, iPad, whatever and videos and pictures that can be shot and uploaded to Facebook, twitter or YouTube in seconds...it is impossible to keep anything under wraps.

When it's bad news, we demand a source!

When it's good news, sounds great!

I like to think that with no information and no Spezza sightings that he is in a remote cabin somewhere in Siberia training for a spectacular comeback during the post-season. It seems like the most logical conclusion to me.

FWIW, Bob McKenzie and Pierre LeBrun both have accounts here. CBC sometimes shows HFboards on their iDesk segment. I think there was a photo of Brandon Dubinsky browsing HF, even.

The silence on Spezza is concerning.

If he was to come back in time for the end of the regular season or playoffs he should be on the ice by now.

@ian_mendes: @Deborah_Anne98 Believe he's able to do off-ice stuff, but for now any talk of returning this season seems way off.

Pretty sure he is in Ottawa right now, though.

I doubt he's coming back this season.. If he's had a setback I think the more important thing is he's even able to resume his career at a high level at this point.

Cool. So when Regin scores a goal this year - he can point to the sky and say "that's for you, Ogie. That's for supporting me all along".

A single tear will stream down my cheek.

True story.

If Spezza was truly done for the year I think BM would have traded for Roy (who only went for a 2nd rounder and an AHLer). We could have pulled something like that off I think.
