Pascal Dupuis Appreciation Thread

Guys... this guy... THIS GUY...

I remember HATING him when he was first traded here. He was riding shot gun with Crosby and Hossa and bobbled every single puck that came his way. In the Finals the Red Wings completely ignored him and focused all of their attention on Sid and Hossa. Despite a wide open Dupuis they knew he was harmless.

Now? He's a legitimate, genuine force. Last year alone he set a career high in points while not playing with Sid and not getting any power play time with 25 goals and 34 assists. This year he's at 19 goals in a shortened season. Add to that his PK skills and he only makes $1.5 million per year?!

This guy seriously needs a thread of appreciation for his growth and ability.

Agree totally. For a guy to find his game while in his 30's is pretty amazing.

hardest-working, most-consistent winger on the team this season.

1.4mil/year

He is a top 20 wing in the NHL. It still kills me when posters put him on the 3rd line in their line-ups.

#1 in 5v5 goals / min this year
http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stati...5+17+18+19+20#

#32 last year
http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stati...8+19+20#snip=f

He's been in the top 20 in 5v5 Pts/60min for 2 years in a row.
http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stati...+5+17+18+19+20
(he's currently right at Stamkos' & Kane's production rate this year)

If he was fairly paid for his production, he should be making 5-6mil / yr. Imagine his pt totals if he got #1 PP time.....

He is an absolute critical, core member of this squad and the Pens should do everything it takes to re-sign him. It is kind of sad that the guy hasn't made his fair share of salary in his career.

I swore I wouldn't buy one of the Rbk Edge jerseys but if Dupuis re-signs I'm ordering one that day.

I fully agree...that guy BRINGS IT, every night, every shift. His work ethic is second to none on this team; I absolutely love his speed, hustle, battle level, and yes, even his hands are pretty doggone decent.

I have liked him for awhile; he cemented my opinion of him last season. This year -- he's just as good, if not better. I have to hand it to him...he very well may be, overall, our best winger, all things considered.

He does a very good job as the top-line RW. I STILL say, though, that he has a perfect game to succeed on the third line, which makes him very unique. Top 3 skill level, but is just as successful on the third line. That is a pretty unique trait. And, it should be exploited...you have the makings of a TOP-NOTCH third line, with Dupers at RW, Juicy or Sutter at center, and Bennett, Morrow, or Cookie at LW...teams just don't have the defensive depth, in general, to match up to a Sid-centered line, a Malkin-centered line, and then THOSE GUYS, on a third line. And, to top it off, the Pens just happen to have someone TAILOR-MADE to slot into Dupers' spot on the first line...hint -- he's a 16-year veteran at RW, who is most likely HOF-bound...

3 for 3 years. I think he likes it here, might be enough to keep him.

Easily 3-4 mil/year IMO. I wouldn't doubt there are teams willing to offer 4.5mil / 2-3 years for him. He's worth it because good 5v5 producers are very rare. Being on Crosby's line helps, but Duppers still has to produce to stay on that line.

Dude can grow a beard just by thinking about it.

Well he makes 1.5 right now and is 33 years old

I hope they don't give him anything over 3 to be honest, we have a lot of others to sign as well. If he loves it here so much I can see him taking a discount, 4 years at max 2.5 per year

Definitely has kept up the energy since Sid went out, Kunitz has been dogging it on the other hand.

Pascal Dupuis proved everyone wrong. He is a top 6 winger. He is a bottom 6 winger. He can PK. He can score 5 on 5. He's responsible defensively.

The only thing he can't do well is PP.

Nah. Kunitz was shooting near 30%, that's not sustainable for a long period of time, even if 87 is putting primo chances on his stick every game.

I think Kunitz has taken some bad penalties, but dude isn't suddenly not trying...He's just not really a league leading point producer type of guy.

Even ignoring shooting percentage, he's been as lazy as Geno. He should know that he can't score on talent alone.
