Bourque-Pleks-Ryder
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-DD-MaxPac
Gionta-Halpern-Moen

Play Gionta on the PK a whole lot if you want. No PP time for him though.
I don't mind these lines at all. As long as the DD line is #3 and no PP for Gionta like you said.

I think MaxPac is pretty banged up. It's nice to see him back in the line up all the time, but the guy should possibly had taken more rest when he got his appendice removed.

Gionta is becoming for me a burden like Gomez and Cammy last season. How can we get rid of him ?

So...what's the prescription for every d-man now? No more Lucic hunting? I guess it's a good lesson to take. Not only you avoid injuries...but you also avoid waking up the bear that sleeps.

We just have to wait for his contract to be up or trade him in the offseason. Kaberle is out Buyout and he's been a true professional as the Captain. That being said, he needs to go ASAP

Who would we scratch if we wanted Tinordi to play? (even on a third pairing)

Drewiske will be watching it. Bouillon will not be scratched by Therrien. Or I'd be incredibly surprised.

1 guy doesn't make your D soft or tough. The D was soft even when he was there.

What he meant is that since Therrien is on the media's good side, he could make some unpopular and/or controversial changes and still get benefit of doubt

Call it 'brownie points' if it helps you understand better

I still cannot get over how/why Ryder did not lay Ovechkin out before he was able to shoot the puck on that first goal.

In the summer though....I'd call Lamoriello to know if he doesn't mind getting his Gionta for his last year of his contract. You know...playing with your bro and all....I'd only ask for a prospect and a pick. Nothing earth shattering. Okay...I'd ask Reid Boucher for prospect but he doesn't have to give him to me.... Jon Merrill?...Seth Helgeson (freakin monster)?

Until then...limited role on ES....plenty of time on the PK....no role on the PP will be fine with me.

But it got a lot softer without Emelin. Not a very intimidating defensive squad. Nobody can give a good hit except PK but always puts hmself out of position doing so, or Bouillon from time to time.

1)Plek is the #1C
2)Gio, DD, and Gally all should be kept on different lines if possible.

So let's look at what works:

XXX-Plekanec-Ryder
XXX-XXX-XXX
Galchenyuk-Eller-XXX
Moen-Halpern-XXX

Prust
Pacioretty (despite a poor night)
Gally
Bourque

All are very useful and valuable at the moment

Gionta
DD

Both are struggling and need a shake up.

-I would put one of Bourque or Pacioretty on Plekanec's wing for Power/Size, preferably Pac because he's better. (Why not play both Ryder and Pac together, they're our best scoring wingers)
-I would put Gally with Galchenyuk and Eller as the second line, provides skill and energy. No need to waste Gally on a cold line
-DD canbe the 3C with Bourque and Gionta (basically a downgrade of Pac/Gally but with softer minutes). DD and Gio are both small, but with soft minutes and Bourque for space, it can work.
-Our 4th line is fine IMO. Prust is great on either the 3rd or 4th

Pac-Plek-Ryder
Galch-Eller-Gally
Bourque-DD-Gio
Prust-Halpern-Moen

PP:

Ryder-Plek-Pac
DD/Galch-Eller-Gally

Markov-Subban
Beaulieu-Boullion

Well, it would be more than about time that Eller and Galchenyuk are getting some of the powerplay. I like your line-up....except for DD and Gio together. But with our players, it's kind of hard not to have a small line with 2 player under 6'.....unless.....

Bourque - Plekanec - Ryder (Offense, Defense, Grit, Some size)
Pacioretty - Eller - Gallagher (Offense , Defense, Grit, Some size)
Prust - Galchenyuk - Gionta (Offense, Defense, Grit, Some size)

Well, i forgot someone.....

Like I said ideally we'd separate the small guys but I don't want to split Eller and Galch. DD and Gio could work with sheltered and reduced minutes

Gionta, DD and the blue-line. Needs to be improved in the off-season.

I understand perfectly. If a coach needs "brownie points" with the media, the cause is lost.

From my vantage point, the media is mostly composed of sycophants, morons and idiots with agendas. The fraction of them who are indeed knowledgeable are generally fair.

Unless he was being facetious, my point stands. If he was, it was not clear.

Blueline big time. But you won't be able to do nothing with DD. And Bergevin will not admit he made a mistake by shopping a guy he just signed. DD will stay. By improving the team, it would mean playing DD either as a C or winger on a 3rd line. You won't make him a 4th liner either.

Some quick number checking:

(Not sure if this is up to date with tonight)

2nd Period Goals For: 41 (9th)
2nd Period Goals Against: 45 (25th)

So we are -4 in 2nd periods, compared to +19 in the 1st, and +13 in the 3rd.

That -4 is good for 9th worst in the league, tied with St.Louis and Edmonton. The league worst is Calgary at an astounding -20, followed closely behind by Dallas (-19), Florida (-16), Buffalo (-13) and Colorado (-12). Then Tampa (-11), Nashville (-10) and Pittsburgh (-9).
