St.Louis deserves it more than Stammer.

Toronto 1-0 up on Montreal. Means that a Habs-Leafs play-off is a cert.

So the Pens lost against someone not even competing?

Detroit punching their ticket to the #7 seed in the West. Minnesota up 2-1 on top of Colorado after 2. Columbus and Nashville tied 1-1 late in the 3rd.

Senators and Flyers tied 1-1 in the 3rd.

Looks like Nieuwendyk finally got canned in Dallas. Detroit assistant GM Jim Nill replaces him.

Columbus takes the late lead 2-1 over Nashville, likely going to win. Pressure is on Minnesota now.

Columbus tacks on EN goal, wins 3-1.

Washington just beat Boston in OT. Montreal will beat Toronto. This puts the Habs at #2 for the night. Boston will have to beat Ottawa tomorrow to get the #2 seed back.

Ottawa lost to Philly, stays in the #8 spot for the night. A lot riding in that game tomorrow with Boston.

1:00 to go, Minny still up on the Avs 2-1. The Wild are in at the 8 seed.

Sucks CBJ doesn't get in. They deserve to be in playoffs.

If you deserve to make it, you make it. The teams immediately ahead of them have been better than Columbus all year if you ask me.

Columbus did more with less though. Minnesota "loaded up" in the off season and still had to squeak in.

Yeah well, there's no Strength of Roster column in the standings. Constructing a better roster than your competitors is kinda the whole point.

So..

OTT loses in regulation = Ottawa
OTT loses in OT/shootout = NYI?? (not sure what the 2nd tiebreak is)
OTT wins = NYI

If Ottawa beats Boston in OT or in regulation, we play the Islanders.
If Boston beats Ottawa in regulation (heavy favorites) we play the Senators.
If Boston beats Ottawa in OT, we play the Islanders.

So if the game goes to OT, we get the Isles. If Boston beats them in regulation, we get the Senators.

Boston needs to win this game to get the 2 seed. Boston board hopes they rest starters and get the 4 seed.
