Good win. Helped that the Ducks were flat but the guys definitely put in a good effort today from what I saw. I got here part way through but Duchene looked great out there. I also liked what I saw from Elliot as well, he looked good paired with Hejda in the later stages of the game and hopefully this a sign of him settling in a little bit. It's been a tough year for him so hopefully he builds some confidence down the stretch.
Stastny being back really changed the dynamic of the team. I'd really like to keep our 3 centers if we can.
So....you're just ignoring the injury-riddled year last year? You know what...don't even respond. This has been debated to death (perhaps not here but in threads around the entire forum). I can expect any response to point out Duchene's output before his injury and the full 82 projection, completely ignoring the fact that he came back prematurely and was clearly still bothered by his injuries after coming back.
No one could/would ever say that Duchene is BETTER than Tavares, just that he's on/at/near the same level he is.
This is what I'm saying. The factor of Duchene over Tavares to me is the fact that Duchene loved this team as a child.
That's pretty much it. Pretty similar in stats but that fact puts him over the edge for me. (I'm a fanboy!)
Only caught the 1st period and a few minutes of the others in between the Nuggets games but good to see a win. Can't lose every game the rest of the way, all tho sucks that the Flamers ended up getting smoked.
Lando with 3/8 goals coming shorthanded. Seen the highlight, what the hell were the Ducks doing? Getzlaf was like ***** it.
I like this comparison better :
Year 1 2 3 4
Duchene: 55 67 28 38
Tavares: 54 67 81 42
I think its hilarious that people are talking about Tavares when it comes to MVP discussions and how he is a top 5 player in the league etc. But yet when you mention Duchene in the same breath as him they say Tavares is in a whole different league than Duchene. When clearly Duchene has very similar numbers to Tavares every year except his one injury plagued season, where he probably should have played half the games he did because he was a gimp the last 20 of the year when he tried to gut it out, and Tavares was injury free and had two solid wingers the whole year.
I'm not saying Duchene is or isn't as good as Tavares but its a lot closer than many non-Avs want to admit. And honestly if I had the first pick in that draft I probably would want Duchene, he loves this franchise and wants to be here and his play this year has been top notch.
