We need 1 point or the jets to lose in any form

Or if we lose every single game in regulation the only way we don't make it is if the jets win out plus the rangers islanders and senators would have to go undefeated pretty much

If you can clinch something then lose it...it wouldn't be clinching would it?

But you will clinch easy.

Can you not google these things? Its as simple as viewing the NHL.com standings page and seeing a little X next to our name. Or venturing over to the mainboard and seeing the magic number thread.

Maybe next time you can just do that instead of making a thread

And obviously you can't lose a clinched playoff spot. Thats why it called clinching.

MIND. BLOWN.

B's clinch with their next win I believe. Once clinched they can lose out and still make the playoffs. It will happen eventually.

Don't we automatically clinch because the teams chasing us (ie Islanders, Rangers, etc...) play each other down the stretch? I don't think they take that into consideration when looking at who can catch who...even thought they can't!

This.
It's like in the GDT when all those guys ask who scored instead of just checking nhl.com.

I guess they don't but the teams would have to play each other several times to make a difference (loser point).

So far, every team up to the 9th spot could still catch up to us. Winnipeg would have to win every game and we would have to lose every game in regulation.

I think the question has been answered. No where else for this thread to go.
