Massive improvement on the last shootout, didn't expect Marleau to score tbh. Definitely didn't expect him to shoot it that low either. Pat stacks.

Oh and the Ducks could have clinched with a regulation win by us so ...

Good win, thankfully Demers was not benched (that would have been stupid). Really liked Stuart with Boyle, really seemed to help Boyle out.

That Thornton line blew, Wingels needs to sit a couple games I think. Call up Nieto already (I'm joking).

Also, I nearly laughed myself to tears seeing that Steve Ott thing, dear lord.

Advanced stats might say different, but from the eye test, I thought Thornton and Marleau's lines were decent. Looked like the Havlat line (whatever that was, sometimes Pavelski sometimes Couture) was the worst one today.
I thought Boyle was still trying way too hard today though and he didn't have a good game. I agree Wingels might need to sit a few, but Irwin definitely needs to watch a few games from the press-box. For a guy with a great slapshot, he's only taking wristers now and they aren't even hitting the net.

Wingels and Torres were very effective. Irwin needs to sit just to see the game from a new level. Not too many complaints. Burns was as wild as ever.

agree. when Wingels and Torres were together, they created havoc. Each ended up with 4 hits. Wingels had 3 shots. Not a bad effort when your linemates are different every shift. Not sure what Tmac was thinking by splitting them up.

Huge sigh but Torres is a force out there. When he gets rolling on a shift, he can singlehandedly wreck the other team and turn momentum in his team's favor. Over the course of the game his hits eventually make the other team hesitate with the puck, and then he slams them even more.

I think the special teams play played a part but i'd like to see a line of Torres-Wingels-Burns just for the chaos.

He's growing on me. More of his great fore check and I'll be a fan.

I loved Torres and Wingels together, so much crazy havoc on the forecheck, speed, bodies everywhere. Just awesome to see.

Pavs got [Mod] by Datsyuk, that is all.

Exactly why it was a good move by DW.

Interesting to note, this is the second straight game Thornton has been kept as far away from Datsyuk as possible.

You mean Pavelski's face got in the way of Datsyuk's datsyukian deke and dived because the Sharks are divers.

Yup he was. I thought Cooch and Pavs did an admirable job.

Can't really use today's game though. You don't exactly want Torres and Wingels out when Datsyuk is on the ice.

Galiardi and Havlat spent significant time out against Datsyuk. Wingels spent 8 games on a shutdown line. Obviously far too little a sample size to be significant, but it's interesting.
