Sharks played hard and decent. Wings played hard and decent. It was physical and intense. Burns is an animal, Nemo made a crazy save then 2 more in the shootout. Fun game.

Nemo's glove save alone was a star.

I thought Nemo, Patty, Cootch and Burns was really good. Stuart, Torres and Wingels very good. Nobody sucked. If we had lost, Braun and Jumbo-bad

I'd hate Couture & Marleau if I was a Wings fan. They always score against them.

Didn't think Marleau had that great of a game. Tons of chances; he needs to bury some of them.

He was on the PK unit that completely blew coverage on the Detroit PP goal. And on SJ's shorthanded score, Marleau and Pavelski got incredibly lucky. Detroit had good positioning thanks to mishandling by the PK unit; they messed it up and the Sharks got a break the other way. Kind of like how when Thornton and Marleau combined for that OT winner against the Wings in 2010.

Thornton also disappointed. See what happens when you shoot the puck?

Couture playing like he does when he gets hot.

Liking the combination of Torres and Wingels, though Wingels's problem has always been consistency.

Irwin needs to sit. I'd like to see Vlasic-Boyle, Demers-Stuart, and Braun-Tennyson. Quite frankly, I don't think putting an offensive d-man like Irwin with Boyle is worth it; the offense goes through Boyle (as it should).

Maybe Babcock wants to keep Datsyuk as far away from Thornton as possible.

I thought Marleau played that fine. Boyle was too aggressive and lost his man.

I agree. Maybe not with those pairings, but I'd like to see Tennyson in instead of Irwin.

Actually, the one they hate is Pavelski, for always scoring against them.

Agreed. Boyle has been really not good recently.

Second time this has happened to me today. I know everyone loves talking to me, but it was Orr4, not me, that said what you quoted.

That was actually Pavelski's man...not Marleau's. The SH goal of course is luck. It always takes luck to score a man down, that goes without saying.

They played a quality road game and considering how they've been on the road, any win is a good win and they looked good in this one.

Braun-Tennyson would be an outright liability. Really wish we had enough forwards to be able to put Burns back.

Well if ice all of Burish, Torres and Sheppard we could. But then our forward lines would suck.

And to think people were raging about the Hannan trade. Okay we haven't seen him play yet but its still nice to at least have another option than Tennyson.

Lol yeah I meant top six forwards. Especially if we're going to be rolling Pavs on the third come playoff time.

Gomez or Torres can squeak by in a top 6 role, just not the greatest options.

I don't know. Tennyson is obviously very raw, but Braun is decent defensively. He's had his moments, but over the past two years he's improved his game that I am OK with him defensively from a 5-6 standpoint. The rub with him is that he appears to have lost his offensive game.

Why not move Tennyson up to wing? A big guy who can skate with a great shot...

You can never have too many dmen on your forward lines

Braun is decent but he's not performing very well this year in any zone. Irwin just needs some rest as this is a very condensed schedule and he's likely not used to it. Irwin's not likely to play very much in the playoffs but he'll have a spot in the lineup over Tennyson and I hope that the forward suggestion was not a serious one. With Sheppard out of the lineup one night and Gomez out the next night and Brent Burns already making that transition, they don't need to add another to it. He's a kid that is learning the game and doesn't need to learn a new position. He's learning by being with the team and watching the games.

I don't think he was great but much better than he has been lately. The difference? Shooting the damn puck. He always plays well against Detroit though.

With the top-6 depth issues I am really kind of worried they may jump the gun and rush Nieto into the lineup for the playoffs and burn a year off his ELC. Just seems like a DW 'all in' kind of move.
