pretty ironic for the team with the reputation as the most boring team till Hitch arrived in St. Louis

and they would play the exact same style if they would have lost the Suterise sweepstakes

Didn't you guys get the memo that all 3 forwards backchecking = trapping?

guess we'll be remembered by about 3 threads daily on the mainboard if we continue to play/trap/win like this

The funny thing is, we didn't have a lot of chances to initiate a 1-2-2. Most of the time we dumped it was a line change. The Wild had a lot of zone time.

Yes, a lot of zone time indeed. Fortunately, that zone time was never really converted into quality scoring chances

Didn't get to watch the game tonight. Cliff notes on how some guys played tonight and how we looked?

Solid victory. Gave up a few more chances than we did against Nashville, but Minnesota is a much better team than the Preds. They are going the wrong way. That Pominville trade may bite them in the ass when it's all said and done. He's a good player, but they gave up ALOT, and really haven't played much better with him. Time will tell.

You would think a trap team wouldn't have the 12th most goals in the league.

Elliott's performance in his next start on Sunday will be fascinating to watch. He'll be going into it with his shutout streak in tact against the back-to-full-strength Hawks on National TV in his first action at home since February 11th.

I say screw it, lets rub it in. Go reverse psychology on them! Everyone should be good sports about it, but I say trap all the way to the cup!

In the end, the only thing that counts is the W!

Except that we don't trap. People confuse our stellar D and mediocre offense as trapping.

Agree. The crowd should be back on his side though. I think everyone understands it's hard to come back like he just did, and they admire him for the mental toughness. If he can get a couple early big saves (no reason to think the Hawks won't have chances) it'll be a whale of a game.

Haha the Wild are not that good. I never feel nervous playing them at all, we always seem to have their number lately. They have ZERO depth. No defensive depth behind Suter-Brodin whatsoever, and they have 1 scoring line. Not much scoring depth either.

We'd destroy them in a playoff series IMO. We are just too good; we have the personnel to shut down their top guys, and loads more depth to score more goals.

Good win tonight. Unreal how Elliott has turned it around!

Nichol's time with the Blues may be done. This 4th line is too good. It's amazing to me how smart of a player Cracknell is. He just knows how to make the right play every single time. It's like whenever he's out there I'm never worried anything bad will happen.

What do you guys think is the reason behind this six game winning streak? Is it just the goaltending returning to form? The additions of Leopold and JBo? Team finally "buying in"? Desperation of potentially losing a playoff spot? Combination of everything? I'm truly curious. I looked at this stretch of games, and thought going 4-2-0 over these games would be great. I never envisioned winning all six.

I can't say one pairing is the sole reason... but seeing JBo get involved on the forecheck and then having that added reassurance of Pie on the back end is definitely a game-changer. Remember Pie trying to go dig deep in the o-zone? It's not a one-man-show anymore.

Our defensive depth is so much stronger since the trade deadline. Just in this game, I remember JBo flubbing a puck in the neutral zone but actually making it back to fight off the forechecker. The dude's speed and reach is such a huge asset. I can't imagine why he's gotten so much flak throughout his career.

He's played on lousy teams up until now.

A great player playing like a great player on an equally as great team?

Makes sense to me.

I didn't expect to win all 6, not in the least bit. Still being in playoff contention, absolutely. I have expected this roster to finish in the 1-5 slot from the beginning (Chicago has amazed me, did not expect their level of play at all). I knew they'd be a good team, not this good.

As for the last 6, I think with the recent acquisitions they may have found a sense of urgency and "if we don't make it now, we'll miss the boat" type feeling. Hell, this road trip might be the best possible thing to happen this Blues team. The two blueliners are a good fit, and have performed well. They are absolutely getting back to the style of play that led them to such success last season.

**** it. Go Blues.
