Beaulieu should be untouchable. His weaknesses are not as bad as his reputation implies, and his strengths are those of elite PMDs.
You are so right. Did you see the confidence with the puck this kid has? He joins the play offensively like it's nothing, makes the right play each time so far, and pretty much just skated circles around the Sabres. The kid has barely played 5 games in the NHL! I'm very impressed.
I'll go out there... I don't even know who has more potential out of Galchenyuk, Beaulieu and Subban.
We'd be a true powerhouse if Galchenyuk and Beaulieu ever develop the way Subban did. Don't get too optimistic after a period...
That being said, the way Beaulieu plays the game truly reminds me of Karlsson. Silky smooth skating, fast, aggressive on the offense, smart passes... He could end up better than expected, especially if he rounds up his game defensively. He has the physical tools, something Karlsson doesn't have.
His positioning defnitely needs work but he's not far off guys like Letang, Green and Karlsson when they first entered the league in that way.
Indeed in the NHL he's been shaky at times, very normal. But from the games I saw in Hamilton this season and in the Q he's not as bad as people make him out to be. I think when he puts more weight on he's going to be very good in his own end.
