Fernando Salas is simply awful. I cannot understand why Matheny continues to run him out there in important situations, and he continues to fail. Just get him out of here, I don't care if it's for a PTBNL or cash considerations.

And of course as soon as I say that we see Boggs give up a home run. Face...meet palm.

For all Metro East people on this board, if you haven't heard, they are building a hockey complex off 64 most likely off the 159 exit near Fairview. Going to be a sweet set up with two rinks, indoor and outdoor pools, hotel, and conference room. Basically like the Hardees Rex Plex in St. Peters (IIRC).

I know I'm pumped for this.

Yea, why we placed sanchez on waivers when we still have Victor Marte is baffling.

Sanchez has been really bad for 2 years now, after his last surgery he was throwing around 90, he doesnt have the gas he used to. Not a big deal at all imo.

Yep, not a big deal. He is clearly very damaged and has a very dim future.

Breaking Bad update:

After a couple weeks of travel, I'm back on the series...close to the end of Season 2.

I just wanted to mention: the National Museum of Nuclear Power was literally right across the street from my first apartment when I moved to Albuquerque (where the crew does their exchanges at least 2 or 3 times so far). There's a shot where you can see the building I lived in. I got a kick out of that.

It just gets better from here on out for you.Season 3 is the Magnum Opus. little advice though, binging on breaking bad is dangerous.

The last 2 episodes of season 3 are some of the most intense pieces of television I've ever watched

Yeah it was a great experience. Wished Lampard would have played though.

Michael Wacha was scratched from his start today and it appears that he's going to get the call to the majors at some point this week.

I like this. I'd rather him get consistent starts if we plan to use him as a starter long-term and with his frame limiting his innings in the minors will be ideal for his long-term health. We go through relievers like crazy and no point in potentially ruining him.

I'm fine with Martinez being sent down, but I hope it was communicated to him that he is being sent down for his own good and not because he performed below expectations. I thought he was fine out of the pen(certainly more reliable than SOME of the relievers we trot out there every game) but my ultimate dream is that he can be a solid starter. I've read multiple scouting reports that claim he has the most potential out of any pitcher in the Cards system, but he obviously has a long way to go. I have tickets for Thursday's game, so I'm rather excited to see Wacha's debut.

Do not understand the decision to put Boggs in the game. At all. I don't think that could've gone worse... and there are still no outs and bases loaded.

I was at the game and said the same thing. He hasn't pitched in like a week, and he hasn't been good all season. Why put him out there in a one run game in the ninth inning? I'm actually not a member of the "Trade Boggs" brigade, but I definitely do not want him in the game in that situation. Throw him out there when we're winning or losing by 7, let him figure it out again, and bring him back slowly(to relieving in close games, NOT the 9th; Mujica has been excellent).

Wacha was pretty damn good. From my own completely subjective stat keeping, the Royals only hit 4 balls hard against him, and that changeup was disgusting. I'm sure hitters will eventually figure it out, but every Royal hitter was off balance when he threw that pitch. His curve ball looks like a major work in progress, though. Giant hump in it and he doesn't seem to have the command of it that he did with his fastball or change. I think he and Yadi chose good times to throw it though, usually the first pitch of an at bat on the second and third time through the order. It was pretty effective at getting first pitch strikes, but it's definitely not a put away pitch. Maybe Carpenter or Waino can work with him on it. All in all, I'd say he justified the hype.

EDIT TO ADD: Also got a good chuckle in the ninth inning. After Boggs gave up the homer, the rain started coming down a little bit harder and this guy that clearly had too much to drink shouted "I hope you catch a cold, Boggs!" Maybe you had to be there, but it was pretty funny at the time.
