We just added Kelly to our list, he's 17 year old that played for Cornwall last season. I expect them to add another couple of OHL/WHL castoffs like they normally do.
Do you think the chances of drafting one or multiple goalies next year is high?

Honestly, no. You'd think an organization with hardly no depth at the position would but they've only drafted one in the past three years. Danny Flynn stated that if they think a goalie has legitimate major junior potential , the goaltender should be drafted in the first 3 rounds. I think the Wildcats' have done a great job will the acquisition of free agents in that department(Shane Owen,Charles Lavigne, Jhase Sniderman etc.) I think the trend will continue unless they feel a goalie has slipped considerably.

So why not draft a goalie in the first 3 round i know this past year they haven't had those picks but in years past just not seen the right fit? Are the Wildcats into a certain type of goalie like a butterfly or stand up?

I agree that they should but just don't think they will. As far as style goes , they're not into a certain type and have had several different styles over the years.

With Jaskin being gone next season. Where are the Wildcats picking in the upcoming Import Draft? Any rumors of who they may be looking at?

They own pick #39 and will be picking then because the new import rules don't allow teams to trade import picks. Not much for rumours as of yet but I expect them to take a forward to replace some of the players that have moved on. Barbashev has confirmed he'll be back.

RKI confirmed yesterday that they will announce their new bench boss soon. He's down to a couple of candidates. Perhaps waiting for someone who's contract is about to end. I heard rumblings that the Latvian Men's National team may not renew Ted Nolan's contract... Not sure what to think of that...Can anyone confirm this ?

Anthony Florentino gets drafted #143 overall by the Buffalo Sabres. Hopefully they'll push him towards major junior. He'd be an impact defensive defenceman for Moncton right away.

Moncton takes Vladimir Tkachyov at #39 of the import draft.

Omskie Yastrebi MHL 47 13 22 35 20 32

HK Yastreby Omsk MHL B 4 4 6 10 2 8

Russia U18 WJC-18 7 5 6 11 2 4

Russia U18/19 WJAC-19 4 0 2 2 0

Pretty decent numbers for a 17 year old.

I wonder if it was who Flynn was targeting going into the draft ?

He's very dynamic, explosive player with great vision. He had great chemistry with Barbashev at the U18. Tkachyov led his team in scoring by outscoring both Barbashev and Nichushkin. He's NHL draft eligible in 2014. He'd , without a doubt, be a huge addition to the Wildcats this upcoming season. Let's just hope there's a deal in place or Moncton can get him here in August.

I think Tkachyov is a great pick up and should be a great pairing with Barbashev
I think he was the player they wanted, after it became apparent that Tkachyov would be "available"
So pleased now, looking back, that Moncton drafted Barbashev last year, he was much grittier than most imaged, and no doubt he will be the mentor to his new Russian Teammate.
What type of numbers do you project Ivan to post this season?

I'd be comfortable saying 55-65 points. I'd say he has a good chance being a point per game player this season. He outscored both Barbashev and Nichshkin at the U18 which says a lot because they're both very dynamic players. I know that's a small sample size but he's definitely a high end skilled player.

Sorry WildcatML, I was actually wondering what you thought Ivan`s output would be, in year 2?

There has been some confusion regarding Vladimir Tkachyov, as there are 2 players, of similar age, with the same name.
The below V.T is Monctons (formerly of Omsk)

The below VT was drafted by Erie (from AkB) but did not report

just curious.... immediately after the draft, Roger Shannon announced that 6 of the 8 americans drafted had committed to coming to camp.
Today in the times transcript, Neil hodge is reporting that the wildcats will have at least 3 americans on their team, (garland, smith and hunt), however that smith is the only one of the 8 drafted that has committed to be in camp??

anyone know the facts?? I dont want to know "hope", "might", "could", etc..etc. heard those all before.
I just assumed that it would have been factual if the head scout goes to the media to announce that 6 of 8 committ....

From what I understand, Smith is the only one so far to have a spot on the team for sure. The others will be at camp trying out like everyone else. It is expected that they have more announcements in the next coming days/weeks. I am mainly expecting Stephen Seeger, Tucker White and I am hoping Zach Malatesta. The Cats have their annual US/Canada prospects tournament this weekend in moncton. We will know more after this weekend hopefully.

Sounds good, but, the way Neil hodge wrote it, he was pretty clear. Smith was the only one confirmed to be coming to camp. Did not mention anything about making the team.

I'm pretty sure he mis-spoke, he does it somewhat often, I think he may be on vacation so I don't blame him for writing it fast. I think he also may have meant committed to coming to camp longer than 48 hours as none of the others have Said they are for sure. It's very unlikely that 5 have changed their mind about coming up (im not sure if all 6 or 7 will end up showing up when camp begins, if there are a few that won't show up it seems most likely to be Gendron or Malatesta and obviously Macloed) since Seeger was here last weekend and he and his father have said in an article that the plan to attend for atleast 48 hours he is likey to come and White has basically said he's coming up and I think he like biz said will be signed next. Flynn has said they plan on signing more kids soon and this weekends his tournament so maybe it happens soon

Keep us posted on camp guys. Some of us can't make the 13 hour trip from down south.

7 out of 8 have committed to camp. The exception being McLeod. Smith has signed with the team and will stay for year.
