Defiance - Renewed for 2nd Season

Anyone going to get it out? I think i'm going to give this one a shot, Syfy has been hyping it for half a year now so maybe it will be really good and once and awhile they come out with a great series. Doesn't look jaw dropping, but who knows.

Starts this Monday at 9:00est. 2 hour premier

I'll try it out but I don't have high expectations for it.

This thing's been getting a ton of hype and marketing, it looks like a hell of a lot of money has been thrown at it.

I'm going to watch out of curiosity, but it feels like it's getting built up to fall flat on its face.

I agree. It's not a similar concept but it feels like Terra Nova all over again. Potential never realized.

I am hopeful it lives up to the hype

I will give it a chance ,, Hopefully it doesn't disappoint as there isn't really a lot of good shows on SyFy these days

SyFy really dropped the ball when the gave up on Stargate.

BG was a gem too.

They really went downhill once they started airing WWE. Talk about desperate messures that they didnt even have to take yet, dug their own hole.

Stargate was weak at end ,, Got about as much as they could from franchise. The last installment with Lou Diamond Phillips , etc was not all that good

The WWE and constant reality shows (That stupid ghost one they show often) really drags it down

And outside of remaking British hit in Being Human there really hasn't been a lot of quality shows. I didn't think Alpha's was all that good , etc

It was best when they had Farscape , First Wave , etc for original programming

Since the switch from Scifi to SyFy the quality has gone down

Eh, I guess I was just such a huge Stargate fan (all 3 of them + the original movie) that I still loved SGU even if it wasn't anywhere near as good as the first 2 series. I thought it was really picking up on its final season so I was really disappointed it only lasted 2 years.

But yea, hopefully this is their comeback show, but like I said, im not really holding my breath on that.

I might check it out. Though honestly, how much different will this be from Falling Skies?

I rather have a new space opera show than another: Earth is conquered, human survivors rise against alien overlords plot.

I don't think this is anything like Falling Skies. I think this is humanity living with multiple other alien species. Not humanity trying to repel an invading force.

You liked Universe? I thought it was an interesting idea but really poorly executed. Especially with how many episodes involved things happening on Earth.

I'm a massive stargate fan, but I hated SGU. It was just awful.

It was like they wanted a BSG, but they couldn't manage to make characters who were at all likable in any way.

I knew Scifi/SyFy was going down in quality when they stopped showing reruns of Sliders/Earth 2/Space Above and Beyond/Babylon 5 , etc

When they started showing just the same cheap movies (How many times do I have to see Malibu Shark Attack?) and reruns of there reality shows for 8 hour blocks beginning in morning I knew it was headed towards lower quality programming

I used to love back every morning I could watching syndication of

Dark Shadows
Sightings
Ripley Believe It or Not (Jack Palance version)
Monsters (Tv Show)

Every Saturday they showed Mystery Science Theater 3000

That is what I miss the most about Scifi Channel

Used to show a ton of old shows and Scifi originals (Farscape/First Wave/Lexx/etc) ,, Now it is just constantly wrestling and some weak original shows/cheap Asylum or SyFy produced movies and reality ghost junk

Scifi Channel was also great for showing shows that got cancelled by Fox or NBC in there entire collection of episodes (Space Above and Beyond , The Chronicle , etc)

Considering how much marketing and how they are targeting the game to be interactive with the series I think this is going to have a long leash. I also remember the interviews from ComiCon where the network execs talked about how this series was going to have more money invested in it than any series in SyFy's history.

I'm going to give it a watch because I'm interested in seeing how good or bad it is. I still haven't forgiven the network for how they treated Eureka though.

I'll definitely give it a chance, but I'm not going in with any expectations. Most of their stuff has been hit or miss for a while now. I like Eureka, Warehouse 13, Haven, but shows like Being Human, Lost Girl, Continuum haven't interested me in the least. SGU was okay at times, but they tried too hard to copy BSG.

Universe was by far the best Stargate. I loved SG1 from a nostaglia perspective, it's what got my into SciFi, and Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) was the ONLY good thing about Atlantis so it was watchable once but Universe took Stargate to a whole other level, made the series respectable for serious fans. Mature characters, themes, better writing, better setting. Easily the best one.

Farscape sucked. Terrible, terrible show, I watched some of it just to lol at it, can't believe anybody could watch it.

I've never heard this Defiance show, looks interesting.

I missed the first 40 minutes but after watching the next 25 minutes after that, this just looks horrible. I'll try watching from the start and give this a fair chance because I really want to like it but I'm not hopeful.
