Pierre McGuire: "DET had a way BETTER offer for Bouwmeester"

He also said he didn't want to give up what was being offered because it would breach confidentiality (a shot at Dreger?) but he said the offer was a lot better than what STL had offered but CGY decided to go with STL.

I'm curious as to what it was?

Matter of opinion, obviously Calgary liked the Blues offer better.

Yeah seriously. If it was SO much better, then either a) Feaster is a moron, or b) It wasn't that much better, if at all.

Actually...maybe it was WAAY better.

I'm guessing the management was sold on Berra, which is a major facepalm if true.

Hasn't it already been said that Detroit wasn't too keen on giving up their 1st rounder, which is why Calgary took St. Louis'?

I don't get it. How is that a shot at Dreger?

Better prospects + a 2nd

I thought that was well documented? Feaster wanted the 1st and didn't care for the prospects.

Pierre knows which prospects Detroit was going to trade. I trust what he's saying is probably true.

The whole Luongo situation after the deadline Dreger tweeted what the offers were to Toronto.

Dreger was the one who said Vancouver offered 2 2nds and Scrivens for Luongo...

Makes no sense for Calgary to pass on a "Way better offer" from Detroit, considering they are moving to the East. Pierre is losing his marbles.

That whole situation reeked of Bowmeester invoking his NTC. I said that from the day the trade happened. The return was just too awful.

I trust McGuire and as much as I want to say Tambellini is the worst GM in the NHL, I can't simply accept anything Feaster does at face value anymore

If Feaster did something you better spend some time looking at it because it probably stinks

Knowing Feaster, he was probably afraid to trade for 4 first round picks or something.

Right McGuire called Jbo a #3 defenseman just days before the trade, I trust him about as much as Eklund

Yep. He said St. Louis was a team that he decided would be a good place, didn't he? If anyone's smart enough to keep quiet, it's probably JBo.

I'm not so sure about that. Feaster seemed to have jumped the gun when it came to Pitts deal. I'm sure he could have gotten more. If Pominville could have got that, Iggy could have gotten more that's for damn sure.

McGuire's an overexcited, over-opinionated idiot. He likes the Detroit players for their name value.

Remember this is the same guy that was shocked and appalled when Calgary didn't draft Olli Maatta, and opted to trade down. He thought it was the stupidest thing he'd ever seen. Then once Calgary drafted Jankowski he's screaming like a kid "LEGENDARY PICK!!! FAVORITE PICK OF THE ENTIRE DRAFT!!"

The guy just eats too much sugar and runs off at the mouth. He doesn't know how any of the prospects will turn out, and like Flames trading down, he doesn't know who the Flames will pick with their 1st round selection. But he thinks he knows everything.

I don't really think Pierre's comment was a shot at Dreger.

He's always made it a point to keep specifics of his behind-the-scenes information confidential.

In his view, that's the only fair way to do it, and it makes sure that people still trust him.

I'd tend to agree with you, if we only offered a 2nd you'd have to think that 1 of our "A" prospects was heading to Calgary with a "B-" guy following him. Jurco+Patterson+2nd maybe?

Just wondering where did you hear this from?

If there's any truth to this at all Feaster is absurd, as why wouldn't you want a prospect who's closer to the Nhl, and I would presume a top notch prospect at the least, than a mid to late 1st nd pick. Maybe he should call Reiger and see how he managed to get Two prospects plus a 1st and a 2nd rnd picks. I would be shocked if he's in Calgery next yr after the errors of comical relief he's made.

Just the fact that Calgary couldn't get a Jake Allen, or Dmitri Jaskin, or Jaden Schwartz makes it a major face-palm deal from my pov.

It was most likely Sheahan + Jensen + 2nd, which doesn't seem that much better.
