Novotny in a new position to get bagged on:

Amerks tell Novotny to shoot

He takes Poms' spot on Taylor's RW. Let the ranting commence.

I hope the kid does well, personally. If he has success, it only helps the team.

I kinda hope he doesn't. I mean if he succeeds attendance next year will go way down. With half the Amerks season ticket holders' heads exploding and all....

Jiri Novotny in Scanners III....

Seriously though, most players his age would only be in their second (or even first) AHL season. Too many people bag on the guy constantly, but I supposed the typical WNY scapegoating has to reside with someone....

Make that 1-1. Gaustad gets his 3rd of the playoffs and Vanek/Taylor on the assist. Paul's been really stepping up.

Give Vanek's assist to Roy (but what does it really matter).

So, the game thread gets 11 posts on the Sabres board and 13 or 14 pages on the Habs board? Damn! I guess us Habs fans are too hardcore!

No, we actually have lives that necessitate Friday night attention, usually involving those foreign objects to Habs fans called c-h-i-c-k-s (les femmes). I had a good one, how 'bout you?

Good to see the Amerks stepping up and seemingly overcoming the shortcomings that plagued them down the regular season homestretch. Gotta love Gaustad's game, and Vanek keeps filling it up. Daddy likey....Any word on how Janik's playing?

this makes me so happy. Not only did we win, but our key guys stepped up when most needed.

Vanek with the game winner.

Miller stands on his head again.

2-0 series lead, i like it ALOT.

I know the feeling, mine moves in a week from Monday. I expect to be heavily sedated at that time.

Ah, what wuss! Cohabitation is nothing. Marriage and kids, now that's loss of freedom.

You ain't kiddin' John. I'm glad that of any season with no NHL, it was this one, since I have no idea how I'd have managed to watch a game.

But the boy is a helluva lot of fun to watch develop....

Considering a number of our regulars we at the game, it's not much of a surprise to see a low post total.

Some fun post-game reading from today's D&C:

Novotny surprises Amerk teammates with his big hits

Novotny bashers may downplay it. But it's still good to see.

-and-

Amerks are rally masters

I'm certainly pleased to see Paul having a great start to the post-season. It seems that he's less and less a darkhorse to make the Sabres next year.

Well, that doesn't sound too good.
