One thing I failed to notice last night and that I don't believe anyone else mentioned as well was that Scheif's final three goals represented a natural hat-trick; he scored three consecutive goals, uninterrupted by any other player scoring for either team. Accomplishing the natural hatty is relatively rare.

Took me a while to read your post as I was distracted (disgusted?) by your new avatar

They say that the camera adds 10 pounds or so.

And doing it, when your team was down a goal in the 3rd period, with a key game in the balance, is VERY impressive.

Seems like he wasn't going to be denied that game. Good to see. Great leadership.

If Scheif can just decide to score and do so at will, perhaps he should do that more often.

That guy isn't paid to be in shape, so perhaps we shouldn't criticize him for his weight.

True, but we really don't know what he does for a living. Maybe he's trying to be a underwear model?

That is why it is so much easier to draft in the NFL for example because the players are ALL mature
It's a little more involved than that, but yes there are many studies on the subject. See The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

Remember I was only rating forwards. Secondly, the reason I have him so high is size compared to other players with similar production/skill set. The age thing doesn't really bother me. He will always be the 10 months older than some other players.

Very talented, tends to have injuries, a little small for the pros. I would equate him to like a Luke Pither...superstar junior but will need breaks in order to spend any meaningful time in the NHL. So many players are interchangeable from top line AHL through third line NHL. A lot comes down to opportunity and work ethic.

Incredibly disappointing. Many like me were hoping he would take the next step offensively this year, but he has shown little to no development in his game from the time he has come over when Atlanta signed him. Next year is his last year to take a step or he is likely headed back to Sweden for the duration of his career. Projects to a 3rd/4th line strong battling chipping in offensively every once a while type player now, rather than the 2nd line power forward we were hoping for, if he manages to turn his career around next season.

Sounds like the same thing you may have given me last year

In a league with 25 prospects per team, would you hold onto him?

Also, thanks for the quick answer

How many teams in the league? Depends on who is available I suppose. In a 30 team league, yeah hold onto him. In a 10 team league, I would say no.

Lol, well ok. It's hard to say, not sure who might be available in said league. He is mostly a depth prospect at this point. He is on his last year of ELC this year, so by then end of next season you will know your answer 100%, IMO.

It's obviously because Scheifele is a known diver.
