Kichton has already said he won't sign and intends to re-enter the draft.

News coming out now about players who have been told they won't receive an offer, Shane McColgan who was once fairly highly touted has been told he won't be offered a contract by the Rangers.

Hopefully we'll be hearing one way or another soon.

Alan Quine is a kid I would love the Jets to get their hands on. It is possible he doesn't want to get stuck/overlooked in the Wings system. We'll see. I've watched him plenty in the OHL and if anything he could be a real solid 3rd line player, though his offensive tools could lead him to 2nd line duty when all is said and done, though he'll need to amp up his defensive efforts, but he has the smarts so I have no doubt he can do it and round that part of his game out. Offensively though, he's got the tools. Smarts and Hockey IQ, hands, smooth and quick skater, vision, shot and playmaking skills. Certainly a worthy prospect by all means. Was the 2nd overall pick in the 2009 OHL Draft. Got better with every season in the OHL.

Quine is a player who could step into the AHL next season. He'd be a great fit for our organization in that he could step in with our AHL club and play prime minutes, get experienced and seasoned, possibly make the Jets in 2-3 years.

We'll see what Detroit does with him. If they don't sign him, he is worth taking a serious look at.

Yeah. I just caught that.

Isles did the following:

Quote:
Arthur Staple
‏@StapeNewsday
#Isles have made offers to draft picks Jesse Graham, Loic Leduc, Adam Pelech and Ville Pokka. Needed to make offers by today to keep rights.

#Isles did not offer contracts to Brenden Kichton or Mitchell Theoret. Both may now be selected in the NHL Draft on June 30.

Could easily see Zach Yuen being a Jake Muzzin type of path. Promising late round pick who has a down 19 year old year, heads back to junior as an overager signing with another team and going on to have some success.

Oh well, guess the Jets have decided to move on here.

People who watched him a bunch this year, don't seem to think he had a down year.

Also, he isn't gone yet.

When is the deadline? Is it like RFAs where an offer just needs to be extended or does it have to be accepted and signed?

Ok like 5 more hours and he is gone. Don't really see him getting a contract in the next 5 hours, it's not like ELC's for 4th round picks are hard to negotiate.

Yes and no.

For CHL unsigned draft picks, a "Bonafide Offer" must be made by the 1st June 1st following their drafting (last year).

By the time the 2nd June 1st comes around the player must be signed or the rights are lost and the player either re-enters the draft or becomes UFA.

NHL offices generally close at 5pm EST from what I understand, meaning that if the contract is not logged by then it will not be accepted.

Oh well...no big deal if they don't sign Yuen. Isn't Chevy always talking about how the Atlanta organization left him with so much depth? No, wait - he's always complaining about how the organization has no depth...because Atlanta traded away the 2007 24th overall, 2007 85th overall and 2008 33rd overall for Keith Tkachuk 6 years ago.

Will Yuen re-enter the draft if not signed or become a UFA?

He's too busy on 1290 to sign Yuen.

Re-enter the draft.

To the above:

I literally just said prior to reading your post, "Comon Chevy, all done the interviews, time to sign Yuen."

This will be disappointing for me. It's not that I expect Yuen to be a top 4 defenceman, perhaps he's just a bottom pairing guy, but at his age and stage of development he appears to have some nice tools and a steady game. Would have been nice to have him in the system and perhaps in the AHL this upcoming season. I'm excited to see our prospects graduate the junior ranks so we can have them at the pro level, and I was fairly hopeful and excited see that with Yuen.

Nobody wants to re-enter draft! And no doubt if fair deals were offered they would sign

I still believe we see him inked last minute, the organization really can't afford to let decent prospects go unsigned at the moment.

It was reported in March that he had rejected a contract offer from the Islanders, moot point now anyways though, since they'd come out today and said he won't be signed.

I'm still holding out hope as well, and a few signings have come in in the post hour or so, but were likely do to the last hour and a half to get it done.

I sure hope somethings happening, seems that it would be a real waste of an asset, not like were bumping up against the contract limit.

This. Hopefully he's just playing chicken with Yuen's agent, makes absolutely zero sense that he'd go unsigned.

Yuen didn't really have that bad of a season... I don't get it

Between Yuen, Melchiori, Sol and Chariot
Yuen had the 3rd best G/GP (the 2nd best was Yuen's 2011-12 season)
Yuen had the best PTS/GP

He skates very well and it would likely be between Yuen and Melchiori for being our best LHD prospect.

Not a "bad" season perhaps, but maybe one where the Jets were hoping he would progress more? I don't know, like I said before I am really shocked that the Jets have chosen not to sign him. Makes little sense to me.

No idea why we wouldn't sign Yuen. In all my viewings he's been solid if unspectacular. Definitely worth the time more than a few other guys we've given contracts to.

welli guess we officially didn't sign Yuen... at the very least we certainly didn't officially announce signing him... I sure hope he's signed and True North just did it so discreetly nobody noticed.

Well, barring a last minute signing that's still being processed by the NHL Central Registry, looks like Yuen is going unsigned and is no longer Jets property. Weird.

Being a 4th round pick, is it fair to declare Yuen the first official bust of Jets 2.0?
