Second Round: #3 Blainville vs. #10 Val-d'Or

Just became official after a valiant effort by the Rocket in 3OT.

West division foes ... BLB in 5.

Discuss.

I agree with the consensus: Armada in 6. Could be a fun series to watch. Probably one of the more hate-filled series of the 2nd round.

I'm saying Val'Dor in 7... just to be different. I've never been a huge believer in this BLB team. Seems like they have deep 2-way talent but nobody who stands out as a guy whos going to bury you on the scoresheet.

Agree with Raimu, Val d'Or in seven. Too much fire power, and Trudeau is playing great hockey.

That's been said about them all year, and while I agree they're missing that star. I still think they'll win this one.

I really hate Boisbriand.

I'm going with Foreurs in 6, but I'm not sure if I'm picking based on my head or my heart...

Ugh, didn't think these two would play a similar game to Halifax-SJ's game 1 .. VDO are flat.

Little bit of a statement from the Armada to say "Hey, we're contending this year too". A lot of people think Val d'Or can take this series. Might have pushed the Armada a bit. Or Val d'Or just came off a physically and emotionally draining triple OT game and just weren't ready for this one.

For any Val d'Or fans out there - Who would you rather have on your club right now (Ignoring the draft picks you got in the deal as well): Randy Gazzola or Matt Murphy? I've been hearing nothing but good things about Gazzola since he got to Val d'Or. The folks on the french board are even discussing him being one of their 20yos next season.

No offense to Murphy because he's done a pretty good job. But I think for right this moment, I'd go with Gazzola.

Gazzola was mistake free in Halifax and wasn't afraid to shoot the puck. No surprise he's thriving in Val-d'Or ... It's a deal Cam can't pass up as Murphy will be back for years to come, and is pretty close in "current ability level" with a higher ceiling ... But I would rather Gazzola for a playoff run right now...

I said in November how real a possibility it was that Gazzola would be on the team (Halifax) next year, so I'm hoping he sticks with VDO.

Losing Gazzola was really the only moment that has saddened me all season with Hfx. And I do believe it for the best anyway.

True on both points... I wish Randy luck, and hope he plays in the league next year... Not sure what his plans are, if he goes to back home or school etc... If he plays for VDO he'll be one of the best in the league.
