Does Anderson have a chance to win the Vezina?

Discuss. He has the top GGA and save percentage in the league. Does he have enough games under his belt to be considered?

If he carries a .935+ over his last 7 games, I think so. His injury time really put him out of the running, but he seems to have recovered so quickly that he can finish strong and regain consideration, imo.

I don't think so.

I think if he only missed a couple weeks, he would definitely be. However, he missed over a month in an ALREADY shortened season. It's almost an 82 game equivalent of missing 2.5-3 months, which I think is too much.

Shame, really, because putting up even a 920 save percentage the rest of the way would've given him a really really good chance based on his start alone.

I agree with all of this

He has the stats, but not the games. If he hadn't gotten hurt, and continued his brilliant play, a lot of the credit for the Sens's making the playoffs would be going to him. The team played pretty good without him and IMO that hurts his case.

I'm starting to believe he is the best goalie we have ever had, so trophy or no trophy I'm glad he is back.

I think it may be Bobrovsky's to lose. He's posting excellent numbers, and Columbus is this year's Cinderella story, and has almost twice as many games as Andy. Lundqvist will earn a nod, not sure who the other nominee will be. Could be Rask, Niemi, or Andy.

He may have been the best goalie this season, but I doubt it. Not enough games. Had he been healthy then for sure.

unless he posts like a GAA of 1 or lower and a sav % of .970 then no. Its too bad he missed so much time, he was definitely the favorite before he got injured

He DESERVES it, but won't get it. Not enough games played (like most have said).

We were robbed or 3 awards this year.

Vezina, Norris and Hart.

Bobrovsky will get it. In a ceremony in front of City Hall with the Mayor.

I think that the 'Jackets will need to sneak into the playoffs if Lt.Bobrovsky is going to have a chance at the Vezina. Can't remember the last time a non-playoff goalie won.

As for Andy, I'll echo everyone else's obvious answer: not enough games played. Right now the goal for Andy & Lehner is probably the Jennings.

My top-3 Vezina candidates:

Rask
Lundqvist (A combo of good season + reputation)
Niemi

We might get the Calder if Conacher back to early season spunk.

Lundqvist is the only guy who stands a legitimate chance of taking it from Bobrovsky, and I think it will be close between them.

All the other 'elite' goalies have mediocre stats, Niemi's SV% is significantly lower than Bob or Lundqvist, the Hawks goalies have split too many games, and Rask is on a great defensive team. Bobrovsky has shutouts working in his favour, too (4).

The factors working against Bobrovsky: lower SA/60, not as many GP as a guy like Lundqvist, and (as you've mentioned), may not make the playoffs.

Could Bishop ans Anderson win the Jennings?

I think a better question is can he get nominated. Right now I think it's safe to say that Bob and Lundy are running away from the pack and that the Vezina will go to one of them. With Niemi faltering a bit though I wouldn't be overly surprised to see Anderson sneak into third.

Anderson could set the record for best save percentage. Maybe by a lot if he stays around .950. Sens could win the Jennings too.

I hope he wins the top trophy... The Conn Smythe!!!!

Niemi has a .922 sv%... below Lundqvist/Bob/Rask but well within "Vezina Territory" if award voters decide to weigh wins and GAA heavily.

And I almost guarantee that if the Blue Jackets miss the playoffs, Bob has no shot at the Vezina. There are enough "old school" voters out there who will make sure that the major award winners (Hart, Norris, Vezina, Jack Adams) come from playoff teams. When was the last time any of those 4 awards went to a player/ coach on a non-playoff team?

I'm not saying it's right, but it is the way it is.

Just missed this edit, but agreed.

Also agree re: Chicago's goalies BTW.

No idea if Bish would be included if the Sens win the award.

Weird precedent would be set.

Doubt Bob wins if they miss the playoffs.

I didn't pay close attention yesterday but I think Don Cherry said something about Anderson for Hart or something. What was that about?
