MacInnis or Chara

Hypothetical situation. You're put in between the pipes, Whose slap shot would you be more afraid to face?

Chara's is faster, though I wonder what MacInnis could have done with current sticks in his prime. Also, MacInnis was better at getting his shot off, so while Chara might be better in an All Star skills setting, I'm not sure if he's as likely to have a harder shot in a game setting. Regardless, I'd be more intimidated by the better scorer, which would be MacInnis. He just knew how to use his shot better.

Macinnis broke a goalie's finger didn't he (Thibault IIRC?).....

I'll take that guy.

But really, Chara's shot may be harder with a full wind up and a skating start, it may even be harder in actual games, but nobody's slapshot in powerplays was as good as the chopper's.

MacInnis had the greatest slapshot of all time, it's pretty much the reason why he's 3rd all-time in defensemen goals (behind Coffey and Bourque).

MacInnis. Lots of reasons for that, but a big part of it is because his shot was accurate and low and hard. Plus his windup was quick, he got the shot off very fast.

Even in their primes, MacInnis was far better than Chara. Al Mac is the same guy who helped Pronger develop his game when he was in the blue.

MacInnis.

And he did all of this with a wooden stick. So, as others have said, one can only wonder what he might have done with modern sticks and training.
