Probably not, they have a good enough defensecore to not need him.

Why not just leave them in OKC?

Hall-Hopkins-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Yakupov
Harti-Lander-Horcoff
Petrell-Smithson-Brown
Jones (leaving anyway), Smyth (know what he's got already), Hemsky (inj), Belanger (inj)

Lander displaces Horcoff so mgmt can see what he's capable of at 3C. But ultimately he's keeping the spot warm for Monahan.

They're both not ready for the NHL. Leave them in the AHL until they can at least dominate there. Thought we were following the philosophy of over-rippening our prospects.

Ultimately, it's still up to Krueger how to use these players:

Hall-Gagner-Paajarvi
Yakupov-Nuge-Eberle
Hartikainen-Horcoff-Jones
Petrell-Lander-Brown

Why sit Jonesy? He played great last game after coach talked to him.

I think on top of this the Oilers need to recall Fedun and Teubert, as well as that Finnish goalie we claimed from the Flyers.

we need to see what these guys have.

When did they send Lander back down? I thought he'd been in the Oilers PB for the last few weeks.

I'd call up Marincin before Teubert and Fedun, he's got a much better chance of being a part of the future.

So is the next announcement that Smyth has decided to retire and takes a position as player something or another? Dept. in charge of stick acquisition?

While I would have liked to see them stay down and help make sure OKC clinches a playoff spot, I like the fact that some youthful enthusiasm is being put into the roster, it's help distract from the skating corpses for a bit

What I expect:

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Yakupov
Smyth-Horcoff-Jones
Hartikainen-Lander-Brown

Though what I want to see

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Horcoff-Gagner-Yakupov
Hartikainen-Lander-Paajarvi
Jones-Smithson-Brown

Then once Paajarvi's last 3 games of wavier eligibility are up, send the Nordic line down and have them together going for the playoffs.

I hope this means both guys get to play the rest of the season up here. I see roles for them both going forward, Lander as 3C, and Hartikainen as a versile winger than can play up and down the lineup. This is a nice stretch of games that will be played at an intense pace. An opportunity for development that can't be simulated.

Smyth, Jones, Petrell or Smithson sitting, doesn't harm the organization in the least over the rest of the season

Actually to be honest, after thinking about it though (and having a look at the Barons lineup), breaking up the Nordic line might be the best thing for Paajarvi imo.

If he gets put with Lander and Hartikainen, he's going to go back to a grinding role, as none of them are players who are capable of leading/generating an offencive attack. It might be better for his development if he continues to learn to play on a skill line.

Considering most here I think see him as the left side of the Gagner-Yakupov combo for the coming years, perhaps skating him with Areobello and Rajala (the closest you'll find on the barons to the other two in terms of style) would serve his development best.

Paajarvi-Areobello-Rajala
Hartikainen-Lander-Cheechoo

But my first point still stands, make sure the 3 do get sent down so they get to experience some playoff hockey. Actually does anyone know if Yak could be assigned there too, similar to Eberle, or even Marincin last year? If so, that would mean OKC could have a extremely deep offence going into the playoffs.

Hartikainen-Lander-Rajala
Paajarvi-Aerobello-Yakupov (keep developing this chemistry)
Cornet-Green-Cheechoo

However that might be hitting the point of too many cooks in the kitchen.

I don't think that Yakupov can go down to the AHL at all, unless Sarnia isn't playing anymore. Is that not correct?
