Canes at Jets - April 18

With Jets getting no help whatsoever from the teams we are chasing, we need to get yet another win out of this one...

Well technically the Flyers helped the Jets out last night. The Flyers were also the first win on the Jets latest streak and seemed to kickstart their offense. Philly has sure been nice to Winnipeg lately!

True - with the Rangers loss we are now tied with them in points.

But Ottawa, Washington and the Isles all won last night.

True, the thing is that not only are the Jets not getting any help from the scoreboard the schedule makers aren't helping them either, both the Flyers and Maple Leafs played the night before facing a team that the Jets are chasing. Philly managed to pull out a win anyways but I kind of did expect Toronto to lose last night, maybe not get blown out, but lose nonetheless.

Playoffs or no, win these last two at home to give the crowd something to cheer for and be happy about, even if just for a few more days. GJG.

They aren't must-wins yet, but they're pretty damn close. We're playing for our lives, so hopefully that'll give us the edge over the Canes.

Let's hope Boston can keep the Sabres off our backs tonight, and prep for a busy Thursday in the East.

For a while I was kind of focusing on the Rangers as our team to catch, mostly because I sort of don't really believe in them as a legit squad. But their schedule down the stretch here is a complete joke, and I have a hard time picturing them losing even one of those games. Now I see the Islanders as probably our best bet. All their remaining games are on the road. If we win against the Canes on Thurs and they lose that nite, we are within one point with a chance to overtake them with a win in game 6 of the homestand.
I know everyone knows this, but it helps a desperate old Jets fan like me to articulate it.
Go Jets.

I'll feel a lot better about the games versus the Islanders, Capitals and Canadiens with a win tomorrow.

If we can't get two points out of Carolina the importance of those tough games jumps through the roof

Good for us in the short term, but I hope dearly that he's okay. It would be a shame to see a talent like him leave the game at a young age due to concussions.

These are all "must win" games if the teams we're chasing keep winning.

Go Jets.
That actually doesn't matter when it comes to the Islanders, they have a good road record. I still think that the Rangers are the best bet for the Jets at this point, with the Capitals being a more distant second. The Rangers schedule seems easy but they haven't been entirely impressive this entire year, plus they have two games against the Devils which would be rivalry games. New Jersey may not be in the hunt anymore but they might get up for those games as a spoiler and attempt to ruin their rivals playoff chances

Good point, that. I'm just trying to brace myself for the inevitable doom-and-gloom once we lose one of these games.

Last night was my last home game so I just have 1 request:

Dear Crowd,

Please don't say anything to Eric Staal.

Thanks.

Just win, please. I don't want to have to deal with the GDT and PGT if the Jets lose.

Posted it before and posting it again. Since the Jets began their 4 game winning streak, the 4 teams we are chasing (WASH/OTT/NYI/NYR) have gone 12-1-1, and that includes one game between two of the teams (so they could not BOTH win). I'm a believer that this luck will change and the Jets will get in if they take care of their own business - win these 2 home games (the Isles game will be huge) to set up for the showdown in DC. If the Jets are still alive going into the final MTL game, they will win it. I don't care who we overtake, at the moment it is conceivable that we could overtake any of the 4 listed, even more than one of them. Obviously a chance to do some damage as #3 seed, while #6 or #8 I'd be realistic and say we'd be toast in 4 or 5 games. #7, you never know....

At 3 - 2 to close, our playoff odds are a coin toss.
At 4 - 0 - 1, 4 - 1 - 0 and 3 - 0 - 2 we also look really good.

Just play above .500 coming home boys! (actually, win out. Take the division. Do it.)

I predict:

vs CAR - win
vs NYI - win
at BUF - win
at WSH - lose
vs. MTL - win

which will put us in 7th or 8th spot.

Anyone else hoping for a Sabres win tonight, it'll keep them hungry and "still in it" for when they play the Rangers on Friday

I'll be missing this game which sucks royally.
We're the better team.
We're playing well.
If we come out with urgency we win.
I don't know if we'll make the playoffs, but I do know that I have total faith in Ladd & co. to "bring it" down the stretch. This is a different team then last year. No longer do we fold like a cheap tent. These boys play with pride and can handle adversity.
Jets we 4-3.

Totally how I see it too. That Sabres game could prove tricky though.
At one point I really wanted The Jets to win the SE, and was disappointed when the Caps pulled away. I know its possible to still catch them, but not likely. I would like to see them go into Washington and take that squad down, if only to avenge the back to back losses that have proved so devastating.

If we win our way to that Washington game, I bet we win it. If we have a loss between now and then, Washington will take it.

But again, if we go in hot, angry, focused, borderline desperate, and firing on all cylinders?

6 - 1 Jets. All Hainsey. (goal against included)

I know Washington will be doing that too, but they've been going 110% for weeks. Sooner or later they have to even it out by giving 90%.

I'll put my 50 vpoints on Carolina. My betting record is sorta perfect . In fact, I may be single-handedly responsible for our 4-game winning streak

No point playing the game. We can't win if Pavs plays and if Ladd is on the top line.
