They played Chicago last night. Hopefully that helps us.

Yep- if ever there was a game that should be a win, it is tonight- the Devils are a mediocre team to begin with, but also on the back end of a brutal Hawks/Preds back to back.

But that is what scares me- this game has letdown written all over it- hopefully the boys come out ready to play-

Especially when this team doesn't show up to play all out each night, but instead decides to play to their competition most nights.

That's not even close to true. Maybe the team hasn't been quite as dominant of late, though I'm sure injuries have a bit to do with that, but they are something like 25-3 against the lower teams in the league.

Most may not be the right word on that last statement, but Carolina, (Most recent) Toronto, (most recent) Colorado , (2nd game) Ottawa, (1st game) Arizona and even (both) Florida games for that matter are games that we should have won hands down but we played down to their level and either let it be too close and barely pulled out a win in regulation, took it to over time, or lost it due to our playing down to their level. These games should not have been as close as they were.

I hear what you are saying, and yes, we have allowed some inferior teams to stay in games- it does "feel" like we have played down to the competition alot.

But the numbers don't lie- 23-3-0 against non playoff teams- that has to be the best record in the league- you can't get much better than that.

NHL Center Ice is free from today through the 20th per my Directv guide. I already have it but wanted to pass along word.

Just in time for our non locally televised games earlier this week.

Every team's fans say this when their team doesn't blow out a "bad" team. This is the NHL, there aren't that many blowouts, goals are hard to score. You can absolutely dominate a team on the ice and lose 2-1. Preds currently have the third best goal differential at +37 and that's without ever scoring empty netters, I bet if you subtract empty net goals, the Preds would lead the league in goal differential. You can't really expect any more than that.

I wonder if there is any chance that a REALLY strong showing by the Preds tonight convinces Jagr to add the Preds to the list of teams he'd accept a trade to. I think he'd be a great add as he could probably be brought in as a cup run rental without giving up much if any of our core roster players.

Your observation is a good one actually. Especially 2 goal leads in the 3rd are troublesome. The team is weak on killer instinct and far too often just lays back in the 3rd in prevent too often. Now if there behind in the 3rd they go all out and come back. Many will think this behavior is a carryover of Trotz, but is it?

We want Jagr? 42 and a little over 1/2 a point a game and -20. Don't think we need him.
