Well this is interesting... Not only has Nick Shore signed w/ #LAKings but now @AndyJohnsonB5Q is reporting straight to LA, not Manchester
Figured this needs its own thread since it concerns the big club. I can't think that this is a long term move, but it is interesting that he is going straight to the Kings from college for the time being.

Maybe it has to do with Manchester being a long shot at-best to make the playoffs? Being 4 points out with 5 games to go.

No, that's the guy reporting that he is coming to LA as opposed to Manchester.

Thanks. It seemed odd that Andy Johnson was reporting straight to L.A.

This is another reason why I am glad The Mayor didn't become the insider. He breaks the news like I break wind

No, it gets Shore an NHL paycheck and it gets him one year closer to being a free agent. He didn't have to sign with the Kings yet, so he was a position to work an immediate NHL promotion into the agreement (e.g., Jack Johnson).

That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought of him as the kind of player that could make an impact in the short-term (not that I would expect him to play this season, more like next season, based on what you've said). I assumed he was a guy who needed a couple of years in the AHL.

I don't think we should expect him to play at all. He'll be in the AHL next year. This just earns him an NHL paycheck for a few games and gets him a year closer to free agency.

Obviously I could be totally incorrect, but I just don't see Sutter bumping Fraser, Richardson, and Toffoli for him. Since he still had the option of going back to Denver for his senior year, he probably told Dean that he would sign now if he was promoted directly to the NHL for the remainder of the season (for the above reasons). The Kings got Jack Johnson to sign early out of college because of the same enticement (though the Kings were bad then and Jack actually played).

It makes perfect sense now that I think about it, just hadn't thought about the difference between a fraction of $600k (just a guess) and a fraction of $60k, because their is only a little season left.

I had this done and posted it on our NCAA kid thread a few days ago, this is old news. Of course I heard he was reporting to MCH first but it makes sense that he forego his AHL time and just report to the team.

Derek Forbort has scored his first goal in Manchester in his first game.
