History Section Code of Conduct (Last Updated April 8, 2013)

Recently, I as the Administrator here, as well as Mods., were attacked for thread closure and performance of other duties.

That is unacceptable behavior.

Ignorance of the HF rules is not an excuse.

Here's the rules :
http://hfboards.com/misc.php?do=cfrules

Know them and abide by them.

They are not open for discussion. Freedom of speech is not applicable to a privately owned site like HF.

If posters cannot continue with their agreement as part of their initial application then contact me and I will happily delete your account.

A reminder that this forum is not the place for "Evolution of Hockey" threads, where people who have experienced the "blinding flash of the obvious" come to the conclusion that all players today are better than any players in history, and make implications that Guy Lafleur wouldn't be able to crack an NHL roster today.

In this forum, the history of the sport is to be respected.

One exception to this note - and I've already mentioned this to one particular fan of this theory. We will allow for an all-purpose "Evolution of Hockey" thread here, with the understanding that (1) everyone acts like an adult, (2) everyone treats everyone else like an adult, and (3) the topic remains in this thread.

Thank you.

Here's a link to that thread:

Negative personal comments are flaming, and will be treated as such.

This is just a friendly reminder, since we're all history-loving adults here. It shouldn't have to be said, but it's been happening a lot more lately.

And it's been happening still more lately.

If you find yourself banned from a thread (or worse), this will be the reason why. The summers in Denver are too nice to be cooped up babysitting people who can't be civil to one another.

Copying this over from another thread:

This is an example of a personal attack. It's not the only one in this thread (although it's the best recent example here).

We do not allow personal attacks.

I'm getting so sick and tired of repeating myself, and I *will* be giving out infractions, thread bans, and whatever else that I need to do to clean this section up.

Consider this the last warning that any of you will receive.
If you attack other posters, you will receive an infraction. I'm sick of bringing this crap up in every thread. Some of you need to grow up.

Thread-hijacking and off-topic posts

The history of hockey board exists to discuss the history of hockey in all its aspects. More and more, we have been having problems with posters hijacking multiple topics to discuss their pet topic or favorite player(s). Having your favorite topic is fine, but it is not fine to derail discussion about anything else to talk about your favorite topic in every thread. Doing so is inconsiderate to everyone else who wants to talk about the subject of a thread, and is considered thread-hjacking, a violation of site-rules.

If you want to talk about a certain topic, find a thread where it is on-topic or start a new thread.

The history board is for the enjoyment of everyone who wants to talk about the history of the game, and posters who continue to hijack threads will get infractions for thread-hijacking and/or banned from the threads they are trying to drive off-topic.

Edit: If you have any questions about this, please PM me or one of the other moderators of the History Board.
