Well the message, whatever it was about shooting and offensive pressure, was certainly received. Wow.

Pretty solid period. Schneider keeping them in it again.

Good move by Stewart on the wing but I'd love to see him use size to barrel through to the front of the net like you see Hossa and Toews do.

But the Blues were definitely more determined around the scoring areas than they have been in a while.

Good period.

Schneider is frustrating.

Hopefully he cools off as the game goes on.

Yes he is, they all had a good first period...I was being sarcastic with his helmet coming off. No smilies on the mobile version of hf.

The team was shooting like anyone who scores gets a million dollars. If a teammate had the puck and was going to fire then the other players were swarming for rebounds. Nice to see them do it against a quality opponent.

Agreed. Now let's see them do it for 2 more periods.

Agreed. To me what's important is they all come away with the memory of how satisfying it is to work that hard together with teammates because this is exactly how they'll need to play to have a chance this year in the playoffs. There will be no easy outs in the West (besides the Sharks, obvs). It's this or golf.

Vancouver didn't goon it up. It was physical both ways, the refs are letting them play a bit if the sticks are kept low.

I had to go on youtube to watch highlights of last year to see some goals scored. Almost always they were crashing the net and driving the D back and getting into the middle.

D-men were getting their shots through and rebounds were going in. Fore-check led to a lot of them. One man in to create chaos, the other one in to support.

Lately, they suck at all of the above. They were a little better in that first, though.

Well I was one of the posters who said it, and after the first 10 min, it was very boring. The second part of the 1st period was quite entertaining.

As for schneider, this has basically been our entire gameplan ALL year.

Put in cory, he makes 30+ saves, puts on a clinic, canucks score a few goals win/lose. Rinse repeat

it's only changed a bit recently with kesler returning, and dominating.

I guess Ballard took it a little too literally.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but it seems like Backes has been really good on draws lately. He won some key defensive zone faceoffs in the Chicago game (Berglund too, actually) and won 6 of 7 in the first.

I was hoping Patrick Eberle was the 13-year old son of Jordan's.

The Blues looked good in The 1st, but continued to fail to score. They've got to really bear down this period.
