Aside from Sekera, who you have to do some mental gymnastics to credit Lindy for, you can't in the last three years.

Kings have re-signed defenseman Robyn Regehr to a two-year contract extension.

Bobby Mac talking about possibility of Luongo going to Isles .. Canucks would have to take back Dipietro.

I hope Sabres get in on this.. Miller NTC and only 1 year left being obstacles but I think you could get a good haul for taking that contract off Isles hands

The Rangers and Canucks are talking to Eakins about their coaching vacancy.

Sabres management.

Hey, when you can take the interim tag off a guy who was the coach of a middling AHL team that got repeatedly taken to the woodshed by Eakins, you do it every time!

Or if you are looking for a short-term patsy to take the fall for a couple bad seasons... well, there you go!

Maybe I'm just flat out wrong. But I think he looks a little quicker, and more sound. He throws more wrist shots towards the net. But I guess it helps when you play for a solid team.

Helps when Doughty is your partner, too.

Who wouldn't love to live out west and play for a Stanley cup contending team?

Oh yeah, Mike Weber, the guy who hasn't started the year as a roster player in either of the past two seasons. He's an excellent example of how good Lindy Ruff is with youth. Ennis is too, considering Ruff waited half a season with Ville Leino and Luke Adam as the team's 2-3 centers before trying him down the middle, then thought "oh, he's definitely the guy I want to groom into a 2-way pivot" over the span of like 20 games.

But yeah, put words in my mouth, I'm sure Ruff's really a great coach and just had no talent to work with, even though he had a large hand in putting both of the players you mentioned into nonsensical developmental situations. And then there's Myers. And then there's Sekera.

Stepan and McDonagh had steadier developments than anybody Lindy had his paws on over the same timeframe. The decision to send MDZ down to the AHL and his subsequent rebuilding is ballsier, and has also been more successful than any of Ruff's projects.

So much for the "he just bought a boat, so he'll be coming back to Buffalo" argument that some poster had been clinging to.

Who was "clinging" to the hope that Regehr would come back? That seems a tad crazy

I think playing with stronger partners has allowed him to just play to his strengths. He knows his partner has his back as opposed to trying to cover for his partner like he had to do here. Many times that led to Regehr being in tough spots he isn't good enough to get out of.

He's doing what he did here, just on a team capable of taking the fact that he's a total possession sink in-stride.

Also, interestingly, Sutter is deploying him as more of a top-pairing defenseman than merely a defensive specialist. Yeah, Regehr is still getting the most defensively-oriented starts against the highest degrees of competition, but he's also the clearcut #4 at ES for the Kings and averaging 18+ a night, despite being 8th and 7th during his two seasons in Buffalo at around 15 minutes a game.

That's because he's playing with Doughty, so he's seeing lots of ice time.

Well yeah, obviously. But he was also logging that quantity of minutes every season in Calgary, so it might also speak to Lindy's preferences to some degree, preferring guys capable of jumping into the play rather than getting a few extra minutes of high-level goal prevention.

There was most definitely a poster who, on multiple occasions, cited the fact that Regehr had recently bought a boat here because he intended on spending several years on Buffalo, and used the boat to conclude he may be coming back after this season.

Sutter gets more out of him than Ruff did, that's for sure.

Thats a whole lot of typing with very little facts to support anything. Im not sure what you were expecting out of Weber.. I always saw him as a decent bottom pairing dman and that is what he is. Ennis and Sekera.. I doubt you will see anyone complain too much about their development. 90 % of a players development is based on the player when they reach the NHL in my book so I dont give Ruff much credit nor the blame. You're making mountains out of molehills.
