Galchenyuk vs Seguin

Well, instead of the usual Galchenyuk vs Yakupov and Hall vs Seguin, let's do something different.

Who will have a better career?

Quick comparison

As a 16 years old
Seguin: 67 pts in 61 games in the OHL
Galchenyuk: 83 pts in 63 games in the OHL

As a 17 years old
Seguin: 106 pts in 63 games in the OHL
Galchenyuk: 0 pt in 2 games in the OHL

As a 18 years old
Seguin: 22 pts in 74 games in the NHL
Galchenyuk: 22 pts in 42 games in the NHL and 61 pts in 33 games in the OHL

Too early to tell, but Galchenyuk with a definite edge right now, even though Seguin put up 67 points

I don't know if Galchenyuk will necessarily have more points than Seguin, but Galch plays very well defensively so I'd rather have him, his two way game is already unreal and will only get better...too early to tell but homer vote for Gally

I like the Habs more than the Bruins but Galchenyuk is unproven and Seguin is already one of the top 20 players in the league

Now? Seguin ainec.

Career? Seguin has a significant head-start with a cup and all... But as usual, far too early to tell.

Good poll.

Barring injuries I think both players will have similarly impressive careers...they're really close imho.

Better career or player???

If it's career Seguin has a pretty big lead with a cup in his pocket.

If it's player the debate is much much closer.

Pretty hard to determine careers based off 16, 17, 18 year old seasons.

They both will be (hopefully) great players for years.

I can't believe people are still making this argument.

Anyways, I'd say Gally. I think they are similar in most areas, but Gally is grittier and more willing to get his nose dirty.

7 in 13 and a +5 in the playoffs isn't bad for a rookie. He didn't win the cup for him but he was a piece, not a bench warmer like some people want to believe.

The question is asking who will have a better career.... are accomplishments not a part of one's career??... a cup is certainly an accomplishment and part of someone's legacy/career.

Not sure your issue here.

sure they are but it's pretty obvious he means individual accomplishments. Just because Seguin was lucky enough to be drafted by a contender doesn't really mean hes better then galchenyuk.

Did I ever say this?... No.

I said it is debatable who is or will be the better player, both too young to make that assumption either way.

The question is asking better careers... because Seguin has a cup, certainly it's fair to say he has a notch on his career that Alex may never get.

When you compare Marcel Dionne and Guy Lafleur... everyone takes Lafleur even though statistically speaking Dionne was superior... Why?... Lafleur had the cups and was a winner.

Same logic applies here, but due to young careers we can't say much else.

I've never understood this logic, doesn't make sense any way I try to stretch
Calling him a winner even insinuates that Dionne is a 'loser'.

It's like a 1950s thought process.

Darryl Sittler, what a bum, never won cups. I guess he is a notch below Seguin because he has a cup.

Galchenyuk is a potential top 10-15 forward in the league and is showing great things in his rookie season. Seguin is an excelent player who is already established put I think his potential is a 70 pts player, while Galchenyuk has the potential to be a consistent 75-80 player that play great in both zones.

So Galchenyuk but its pretty close

Gally will be a superstar

Seguin is and will be just a good player

Gally in a 2 or 3 years will be a top 10 center and the captain of the Habs

Seguin has been a better player in the past, right now, and will most likely be in the future. Seguin, very easy decision for career too since the Bruins > Habs

Hmm that's a good question. If I had to pick one right now I'd pick Seguin. But I can definitely see Gally being better down the line.
