Yeah, lets trade a guy who's having an off year in his third year, after being a top 10 points guy last year. I'm glad GM's actually have sense and don't make reactionary cliff jumping moves like Oiler fans want.

I have a sneaking feeling that this package will get offerred for the first overall pick (likely Seth Jones).

EDM: Jones
?: Eberle + Edmonton 1st Rounder (Likely top 10)

Is that fair value or would Edmonton also need more assets and/or picks back as part of the deal (a 2nd round pick perhaps)?

Not if Colorado drafts 1st overall.

This is a package good enough for an OEL/Pietrangelo type player, this Tyler Myers crap needs to stop.

Because points are an end-all be-all. Man, Grigorenko only has 5 points, you should trade him to the Sharks for Scott Gomez.

No, it is not. A 22/23 y/o franchise defenseman is worth so much more than a first line winger and a 7-10 pick. If you want either of those guys, like I said, it's RNH++.

Except you're wrong, franchise dmen get dealt far more often than franchise centers.

When did I say that franchise centers get dealt more than franchise defensemen? I don't see it anywhere. I was commenting on pure value, saying that neither St. Louis or Phoenix has any reason to trade their young franchise defensemen unless they're getting a young franchise center back. And since RNH has not proven nearly as much as either of those two have, Edmonton would add. Regardless, this is about wingers versus defensemen. First line wingers get traded with surprising frequency. Pomiville, Heatley, Kessel, Kovalchuk, Neal. Defensemen don't. You aren't getting Pietrangelo or OEL, regardless, so I don't see the point of this discussion.

Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk are auto no-go's. If they are in the deal, then there is no deal.

Really? I thought Myers and Eberle were equal and then Ott>klefbom and 1st>foligno
I was going to leave klefbom out but i thought i would see the reaction first. I feel this trade addresses a lot of needs for the oilers.
Big top pairing d

Eberle and a top 10 pick gets you almost any defenceman in the league. I would say Karlsson is the only no-go, every GM thinks about this trade long and hard for their #1 dman.

I have always found Florida a good trading partner. What about something centered around Eberle and our first (only if it falls outside the top 5) for

Kulikov (solid 2 way d-definitely fits into our top 4)
Drew Shore (a big emerging powerful center who could eventually take over for Samwise)
Petrovic (promising shutdown dman)

Most of the Florida players are playing or are on the cusp of stepping in. I am thinking Florida might have to add a bit. Thoughts?

Imo Edmonton should just try to draft their own #1 D in Nurse, Pulock, or Ristolainen

Or what about using our package to try and pry Brouwer outta Washington or Hartnell outta Philly. I have no idea what Washington or Philly would have to add to make that palatable for the Oil. Thoughts on what else would have to come back?

Buffalo's 1st. Eberle alone is worth more significantly more than Myers.

Washington would have to add Carlson at least, and Philly would have to add Couturier and Coburn.

That's likely the price for Eberle without the 1st.

A lot of people seem to think this is an Eberle fire sale.

Very true, but I think people (like me) see Eberle as the most valuable trading chip that we might consider moving. I wouldn't trade Hall, RNH or Yaks. He seems the most logical fit as that high caliber player who would help us fill some big holes on this team with quality players
