our jersey is already a throwback. you can't throw it back any further.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Brooklyn themed 3rd jersey make it's debut @ Yankee Stadium.

Same here. I'll catch a game over Christmas (I spend every Christmas on LI), then fly back to NY a few days just for the game at Yankee Stadium.

I wish Bob Sheppard was still around. I would love to hear him introduce the Islanders!

There's a good chance we'll be greatly outnumbered by Ranger fans. When the seats go on sale, we should try and organize a few sections for Islander fans only.

umm its an isles home game 1st off (so we control ticket sales), and 2nd, right now the only guaranteed way to get tix to get he game is by becoming a STH .. the nhl has a block of seats set aside for sponsors as well.. this isnt a game where a rags fan can go to the box office or online and order a million tickets.. tickets to this game are fully controlled by the isles.. and any isles fan stupid enough to buy a ton of tickets to only sell on stubhub deserves to be exiled since he had no intention of going to the game to begin with..

I'm just thinking, do you guys think it will easier to get group tickets instead of us each trying to get them individually? What if we did like an HF group thing and got all us die hards in the same section?

I'd be down w/that. That would be crazy awesome.

If not, I have a contact on the NHL marketing side that I plan on exercising.

I was referring to the amount of times the Isles will be playing outdoors next season.

The reason I ask is this.

I went to the Heritage Classic back in '03. Yes.. booked hotel, flight, etc.. without even having a ticket. oh yea..was unemployed too. Turns out that the hotel I stayed in, had a package which included tickets. all good.

In any case,.. my point is that Canada/Edmonton lives hockey. They all went BSC (bat **** crazy) that weekend. There was a huge uproar about availability of tix when they were first offered to the public.

The place was sold out, as expected. But due to the extreme cold -- It was -32F when I landed at night, you couldn't sell any extra tickets, and alot of people stayed away due to the cold. I couldn't even GIVE away my extra ticket. Think about that.

Luckily there was no wind. The temp at the time of the first puck drop ( 2pm?) was ZERO. Not 32F. It was ZERO Farenheit. The sun was shining, but it was stupid cold. Beer foam FROZE by the time you got back to your seats. It was an outdoor football stadium, so the only place to warm up in between games.. was...

the bathroom. The constant stream of urine, gave off enough heat to warm up the mens room ever so slightly. It was the only relief (no pun intended) to be found.

Yes.. I stayed to the end-- about 10pm or so.... Yes.. I got in the Edmonton Journal-- interviewed by a reporter--- Yes.. I drank copious amounts of sambuca from a hidden bota bottle around my neck. Awesome experience which Ill never forget. I think im still thawing out.

Now -- NY isn't going to have that type of cold. But it IS going to be a weekend night game (UGH) in the dead of winter. COuld be in the 20's/teens..wind chills.. etc... + there will have been a previous outdoor game days earlier.

Now -- WE are all hockey nuts -- but hockey is NOT a huge draw in NY. the key here is that its Super Bowl weekend in NY -- so that was a good move. Should be a great time -- I just hope the weather isn't horrible.

Should the weather be in the crapper -- I would think we could have considerable empty seats. Am I going? ok -- probably.......

Just my thoughts.

New Yorkers are all stupid. We'll throw on 2 hoodies, grab a hat and gloves and fire up that grill in the parking lot. 16 degrees or 30 degrees F.

I know of a lot of people who are not hockey nuts like us, but casual fans who are dying to get tickets to this. It's not just about the game, its an event. A gathering of awesome.

PS. Props to you for toughing that one out. I can only imagine. Hot chocolate and baileys sounds like the perfect remedy.

If a STH will not be exercising his rights to buy tickets I would like the opportunity to get some tickets. Can offer like 10% on top of whatever 8 tickets would cost.

I'm planning on buying tickets to this game for sure. If there is an Islander group section, I'm down to join in!
