Yay team. Go Jets Go!

A special thanks to Lynk for apologizing on my behalf in the Tampa GDT.
I wasn't talking about you, bro.

There was just a lot of general trolling going on there which seemed to continue on in our own GDT and **** like this just annoys me. I just don't understand why people care so much about what another fan base says about our team (or city) and then feel the need to come running back to our board to tell us all about how people don't like Winnipeg..

Maybe it's just me but who really cares.. Sometimes people dislike things for their own legitimate reasons, or sometimes people dislike things for their own irrational reasons. But at the end of the day why does it matter...

All it does is create nonsensical yammering back and forth until the mods have to come in and tell us what we all already know.

Ugh, sorry. That went on longer than I expected it to.

Back to the PGT.

It is what it is.
Fair enough.

My stance is that it's not so much the fact Pavelec is being blamed, it's the specific moments that are being attributed to his mediocrity. My money is on Rinne/Lundqvist/Quick etc. allowing 2 goals instead of 3 this game. Conversely, my money is on those aforementioned goalies allowing Stamkos to score on that shot.

Other random thoughts:

-All four forward lines were flying and played with much needed desperation. Even Olli played quite well, sprung Kane on a few nice passes.

-Clitsome-Buff was pretty nightmarish. Matched the entire night against the 3rd and 4th line, yet still were getting worked and outchanced.

-Bogo-Hains were up and down, albeit playing some of the scariest minutes you can get handed.

-Postma and Clitsome both need to be more assertive. Particularly bad was Clitsome attempting a half assed hip check on Thompson allowing him to walk in for the second goal.

-Haven't checked Garret's zone entry stats just yet, but overall I really loved the creativity shown in attacking the Bolts D. Much more patience and looking for the trailer than I'm used to seeing.

Nice win by the boys. Third period was a little shakey and not for the faint of heart, but hey 2 points is 2 points. Who cares how you get them, move on to the next one.

It would be fantastic to have playoff NHL hockey back in the Peg. So damn close. Wish we could play the Rangers once or twice more.

Big Kane fan but he did not look good tonight. (for him)
He had zero hands and fumbled the puck a lot more than usual.
When he's on look out.
Tonight he was not.
There almost seems to be a panic to his game at times and tonight there was a bit of that. 85% of the time he doesn't even look in the offensive zone and just blindly throws it at the net.
A puck at the net is almost always a good thing but I think someone with this athleticism and skill should not look like me with the puck panicking and at times throwing it away (to clarify I'm NOT a good hockey player)

Also he needs to save the spin-o-ramas for the games where he's feeling it... trying that move when he had been unsuccessful on most of his plays that night was weird. The biggest thing I noticed from my seat in 318 was that he was not hitting nearly as much as usual.

That all said he's a great talent and were lucky to have him.
Only being hard because I expect a lot.
Unlike Jokinen who I have given up on.
If Burmis line didn't have such good chemistry right now I think we could switch to
Kane-Burmi-Santorelli (THE SPECIALIST)
Tangradi-Jokinen-Wellwood

Regardless of what happens on the out of town scoreboard from here on out, this turn around after the 5 game slump has been amazing. I thought if they could go 7-2 with 9 games left, they would easily get in. Since then they've gone 4-0 and it looks like it'll be questionable whether 3-2 gets them in. Craziness how all the teams they are chasing are winning everything in sight.

I guess they'll just have to go 3-1-1.

Kane was pressing big time the entire game, you could tell he wanted to bury one every time he stepped on the ice.

You take the good with the bad. I agree he looked a bit panicked at times and had one notably bad turnover in the neutral zone, but you've got to love his willingness to throw everything on goal. For instance, turned a relatively innocent looking play in the first into a near goal for Wellwood, just by hustling and getting it on net.

Actually surprised he "only" had 5 shots.

Not true. He had some good hits this game and did not shy away from any physical contact. I also disagree that he had poor game. Had 3 shots in the 1st period alone, one of them labeled for the top corner but Bishop came up with a good save. He was fairly quiet in the 2nd/3rd however because his ice time dropped due to the Burmi line playing much better. His other highlight was his pass to Wellwood in the 1st (or was it the second) that gave him a good scoring chance.

It doesn't have to be a GDT but Santorelli deserves some photoshop LOVE. The Specialist in action!!!

This was supposed to have the poster from the Stallone / Stone movie from the 90's "The Specialist".
Once upon a time I could add links not sure what changed with the process?

I see people talking about catching the Rangers. What about the Senators? They play Wash twice. Boston, Pitt, Phi, and Toronto. They have been struggling a little too. Won tonight though, but against a struggling Carolina team. We are only 4 points behind them.

I'm comparing him to himself.
He had about 3 fly-byes in the 3rd where he normally goes out of his way to hit people and did not.
I'm not saying he was the stand out bad player on the team.
Not at all, he has high standards to live up to because of what he is capable of.
It just wasn't near his average game so to point out that he had a good game seemed weird.
His first shift was awesome, he hustled for most of the night but looked to be fighting the puck... at one point he sort of tripped himself or stepped on the puck or something.
Out of the 43 games he's likely had around 30 better games.

Again I would not point to him as being bad... just below his own high mark.

I was really hoping they (of all the competitors playing) would lose tonight. I said it in another thread, but had they played in Boston last night, they very well could have gotten beat by Carolina tonight. Under that scenario, they would only be 2 points up on us with no games in hand and a very tough schedule ahead of them. Oh well, what can you do...

Would like to see him re-signed next year. I don't think there will be a big market for his services come Free Agency, and management must love the way he has gelled with Burmi and Tangradi. Maybe a 1 year 1 Mil deal?

Agreed, I find it sad and insecure. 'Look what this person/fan/media outlet said about Winnipeg!!!' And sometimes go as far as starting a new thread topic on it, so we can all apparently rage and ******** together at the latest unjust offhand comment about the team and/or city. . Not surprisingly, it sometimes seems the people raging about these things are often the same ones who make off-color remarks or generalizations going the other way....

Wow what a game! I've gotta say, at the end of the third I was feeling some doubt. Overtime I was getting some confidence back, and then lost it all in the shootout. I haven't screamed as loud as I did in quite a long time. Keep on trucking boys!

I understand, but I think you are over analyzing his play today or just expecting too much. He may not have been at his very best but he was close, which is good enough for me.

Just saw the replays on TSN and caught the Hainsey pass. It was indeed intended for Bogosian who wasn't ready for the pass, so I don't fault Hainsey as much as I did initially. Still, it was a poor decision and too hard of a pass.

I was going over some stats, Kane, Wheeler, and Ladd all have more 5v5 goals than ovechkin.
