I sure hope thats a joke...any intelligent person who watches DD play right now knows he is an absolute joke.
- He shys away from contact
- He doesnt know the word defense
- Can a player really get any more PP time/offensive zone starts? He plays the same type of minutes as Ovy ffs
- Gets the benefit of the doubt always, 90% of the players on this team are accountable. DD is the only one who isnt and needs to be
- Loses important faceoffs (overall means sweet ******* all to me)
Oh but lest we forget he has amazing vision. Get your damn blinders off already, is he an asset? Sure. PP Specialist on a team like Vancouver, perfect role. That said any team with that guy, playing him the minutes that we do in a top 6 role wont make it anywhere. Period. Defense wins championships, heart wins championships but most of all balls wins championships. 0/3.
Oh and for those who think that this is because his *slump*. To me he has been in a slump ever since he got here. I dont see the love of this guy, I really really dont.
To be real honest DD is maybe 50% of what he was showing last year.
He's not as near as combative, annoying for opponnent, smart and quick passer as he could be last year, even his offensive positionning is off, last year he was much more in the crease than he is this year.
So he less of an impact he was last year, i'm well aware of that and i don't know when he will wake up and revert to his real style cus he's floating around making basics pass and don,t do the play that impress me by his originality like last year.
But i can say pretty much the same with Pacioretty tbh, it's amazing how this year they cumulate lazy points instead of working for them like last year.
Instead of gritting it and overloading the opponent they pretty much doing a telegraphied and predictable play hoping it will go in.
But he's not half as bad as ppl trying to describe him tho, he's still a legit nhl player that seem in a slump but able to manage his share of point to not be a nuisance in the long run, he just not having as much as an impact as he could do.
Agreed on all points. I trust his performance over 82 games more so than one over 48. So I'm patient and we'll see next year. Hopefully he shows some good play in the playoffs. We need EVERYBODY on same page.
I like DD too. We all know he's got to improve but I'm not gonna cry about it after half a season of less than ideal play.
