Marcus Foligno to Columbus?

What would Columbus have to ship Buffalo to acquire Marcus Foligno?

Yeah I know the Foligno history in Buffalo but then again we're on hf and Marcus fits the Blue Jackets style of play.

It would have to be significant.
What would you want for Nick???
-Armia?
-Miller?
-Ennis?

I'd do any of those straight up for Nick Foligno.

For a grinder? No thanks.

(I grant that this is probably what Buffalo fans would want. But no way is he worth that.)

Considering what Buffalo is trying to build, he's probably not available for anything you would want to give up. The only way I see him being moved is in part of a package to move up the draft or acquire a top player.

I would think Nick to Buffalo is more likely given that same Foligno history and Marcus being younger. I can't see Columbus moving Nick though.

For the sake of the thread, with Buffalo rebuilding, Marcus isn't the kind of player they should move. He's young, physical, and has shown some offensive upside at times.

I think it would take an offer of Jenner+ to get Buffalo to consider moving Marcus Foligno.

Correct. Who's had trouble staying healthy and was drafted by the previous GM. For a 21 year old power forward with lots of upside and a top 10 pick.

Rather than make this another thread with outlandish offers and counter-offers, suffice to say, it's highly unlikely the Sabres move him at this time.

How many times must we do this?

Every single time one or the other Foligno is suggested in a trade to the other team that employs his brother, we get the same net result:
  • Columbus really likes Nick Foligno and would prefer to keep him, and won't move him except for an overpayment. But adding Marcus Foligno would be welcome somehow; he'd be a great fit.
  • Buffalo really likes Marcus Foligno and would prefer to keep him, and won't move him except for an overpayment. But adding Nick Foligno would be welcome somehow; he'd be a great fit.
Repeat Ad Nauseum.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

1. He had a freak shoulder injury that will heal entirely

2. So what if he was drafted by Howson? He's still a quality prospect.

3. I don't see this huge upside in Foligno. I see a grinder with good offensive skill, but hardly a game-breaker

4. I like the top 10 pick, but Murray is likely to be better than whoever we draft in that spot.

There is a nice thread on the Buffalo forums discussing the future of Marcus Foligno. It's worth a read considering the propensity of fans around here to pump up their players outwardly while expressing serious reservations internally. The nice thing is that these reservations are not as private as they seem to think.

I would offer a pick in the 15-20 range and that's it. Buffalo would obviously say no. I would say "ok thanks for considering it anyways" and we both would go off no worse for wear.

Yeah, a few posters who think a 21yo kid can only stay the same or get worse form where he now are definitely on point/should determine value. Foligno is a rookie on a bad team, that went through a coaching change this year, who's had his ups and downs (in that situation?! No! Shocking!), but has shown legit promise. Plus power forwards are known to be longer-term projects developmentally than a lot of other forwards.
