I'm no Doctor, but I assume that means he can resume skating sometime in the near future. If so, there's a chance we could see Booth back in time for the playoffs, or at some point during the 1st round.

Schroeder is the Wolves best center and they're going to need to win their last 3 to even have a chance of making the playoffs. I can see why the Canucks wouldn't want to burn bridges with them just to get Schroeder up for some more regular season games.

hopefully to boost his confidence as well, I guess we will see what happens going into the post season though, I am assuming that they will go with whatever player gives the Nucks the best chance to win. If Ebbett is still getting minutes then it will be obvious they have little to no faith in Schroeder right now

I think a couple things may be in play...

The pros of the experience he's getting with larger minutes in the AHL right now may be out-weighing him getting 13-14 mins at the NHL level when Ebbett can handle the defensive side good enough for now.

- Another reason may be a slightly greater grind factor... Did you see what Sobotka tried to do to Ebbett off the faceoff at center ice? The Blues game for example wasn't one where i was exactly thinking.. hey, i wish Schroeder was playing.

From previous broken leg and ruptured tendon getting the boot off is a big step. It allows building the muscles up in regular motions again. Depends on how much motion and use of his leg he had while hurt and how much work he was able to do on his leg strength while it was in the boot to influence when he will be skating again though.

I think this is a big factor. A young guy like Schroeder hasn't necessarily developed his "man strength" yet. I could see them bringing him up as the extra forward for the playoffs though if not to use him in less physically grinding series.

So basically we're back to thinking that we need the third line to grind more then score?

No, just that Schroeder hasn't developed the toughness and strength to compete at a playoff level in general. Just a little young, doesn't need to change his game much IMO, just get what I call "man strength". Doesn't matter how much you lift in the gym, you just learn to use your strength in different more effective ways with experience.

I would prefer a layer of Schroeders skill set there. Just that if he will get bullied and abused by match up problems then that could be an issue.

I think its fair to mention at this juncture that Ebbett can really skate, and is not a complete pylon. I don't love his game either, but he could be a lot worse, and if he HAS to play 3C, at least we have quality wingers to help him out.

6 points in 23 games is decent offensive production given his role. He's also plus two which is not bad for a fourth liner. He's a useful utility player to have as the 12th or 13th forward. He has his limitations but he's better than many other fourth liners we've had over the years. I know that last part is faint praise though.

Was on team 1040.

Weve only played

SJ - loss
Stl- loss
LA- win

For playoff teams in last month

Counting Edmonton or Poenix is a huge homer stretch, they simply are not playoff teams

So 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 shootout loss

not great, but counting the SJS loss and STL as the same is disengenuous.

At the end of the day, twist it how you want, we last beat a current playoff team almost a minth ago.

Scary

No shootouts in the playoffs so it's not really a case of "twisting".

By the looks of it I would blame the schedule maker.

We've got DET, CHI, ANA coming up. There's our test before the playoffs.

Just as easy to speculate that they would have won just as many games against current playoff teams if we had played them.

But hey let's find some more negative **** to focus on.

At this time of the year the most difficult teams to play are often those fighting to get into the playoffs. Personally I see tonight's Dallas game as a bigger test than Annaheim or Chicago. A win against either of those teams would be great but neither has much to play for at this point.

What are we testing for? At this point it's too late to really change anything and we've basically clinched our spot.

Our test will be the playoffs...none of the remaining regular season games matter and I hope we just focus on getting healthy.

I would point it out if had won in a shootout as well, I just think it's worth it to make the point that there are no shootouts in the playoffs, so I don't consider shootout wins/losses as true wins/losses. Just like you don't consider empty net goals to be real goals.
