Deng is home resting and will likely not need any more treatment. It basically boils down to rest and recovery now.

I doubt he's back for Game 1. Game 2 is much more likely.

Derrick Rose sucks man. Noah, Deng, Hinrich the entire Blackhawks squad is playing broken and he can't get out there?

smh. Rose and Cutler, this is chicago sports.

Blackhawks?

Evidently fans haven't realized that they're clueless about what this injury is like. The Chicago fans who bash Rose are some of the most spoiled babies I have ever seen. So fickle and childish, it's embarrassing as a Bulls fan.

Rest of the NBA's fans can say what they want, but it's pathetic to see it from Chicagoans.

I sort of agree, but Noah is out there

I saw someone on the tribune website call derrick the MVP (Most vacant player)

Cutler left NFC Championship with same injury that Tom Brady sat out 2001 AFC Championship game with

And Cutler unlike Rose tried to play thru it (Came out at start of 2nd half and played a series)

Noah is playing with plantar fasciitis. Derrick Rose tore his ACL. One is painful, the other can end or significantly alter careers.
There is no comparison. Rose doesn't feel prepared to return, doesn't trust his body, and (presumably) believes he would overcompensate if he came back now and possibly injure something else.

People forget that he's been hurt for two straight years. He had a litany of injuries during the 11-12 season before tearing the ACL in Game 1 of the playoffs. He hasn't been healthy in forever, of course he's going to take his time... as he should.

Brooklyn should feel ashamed of themselves.

No doubt. PJ needs to go away too. Not that he will be back.

Because an MCL sprain is comparable to returning from an ACL tear? Because a QB requires every bit as much as explosion and power in his lower body as an elite point guard does?

Come on now.

The man was cleared to play by the doctor months ago. Not week ago, or day ago.

That has nothing to do with being mentally prepared to come back or regaining reliable proprioceptive feedback from the repaired ligament. Nor does it have anything to do with overcompensation upon return (potentially leading to another injury) or the fact that he's been hurt for effectively two straight years and is being careful because his career truly does hang in the balance.

The man knows what's best for himself and his career. It's such a basic truth, but people have a shockingly difficult time grasping it.

He's soft, sorry.

What Noah has is currently destroying Albert Pujols because he played through it and his feet are getting destroyed.

Every case of plantar fasciitis is very different. Noah played through pain which was extremely impressive, but his game itself (look at his advanced stats prior to game 6, they're pretty awful) wasn't very good save for an inspired, amazing stretch in the fourth quarter of game 2.

Pujols is a different person. Noah's case of PF has by his own admission almost completely cleared up. That's the nature of that injury - it can disappear just as quickly as it appears. Perhaps Pujols is dealing with a worse case, or a longer-lingering one. We don't know.

Point being, if Rose's brain is not ready yet (and it's not), then that's the end of the discussion. Proprioceptive feedback and confidence are not physical properties that you can just get back if you "toughen up."

This has nothing to do with being "soft" - perhaps the most silly, overused word in sports. I've seen Rose get murdered multiple times on brutal fouls by Dwight Howard in the same game, and get back up and keep going to the rack unabashedly. Lol. The guy is anything but "soft."

Rose is a great player and I don't think he's soft but maybe he's just not that strong mentally? Adrian Peterson said being mentally tough and trusting his knee was probably more important than all the physical stuff and rehab he went through. Once he got that part down, he worked his ass off and knew he would be back in week one.

Obviously we don't know how Rose feels but the doctors and trainers who have been with him from the beginning cleared him months ago. He has also been going through full workouts for a while now. There was a bit of an issue with his hamstring earlier but for the most part everything we hear about is him not trusting his knee. He doesn't know how it'll react to contact or if he makes a certain cut at full speed. The rest is speculation but some reporters wonder if Rose is worried about not being the same player and playing at a MVP level to help his team. He could also be thinking about his big contract and the record breaking Adidas deal he signed, who knows. Those are all mental issues that will be hard to work through unless he actually gets out there.

I don't mind Rose but I hate the Bulls so I find the Rose jokes hilarious and that's why I keep bringing it up. But it would be a bad decision to come back now. Even if he wants to do it, the Bulls should tell him no. If he eased into it by playing 10-15 minutes per game when he was cleared, he could probably help the Bulls right now. But you can't have him making his comeback in the playoffs when he hasn't played in over a year. Shut it down and wait until the preseason now.

Rose is soft and quit on his team. I would be enraged if Melo pulled the same antics as him.

Rose is definitely getting off easy. If Lebron or Melo were sitting out while medically cleared during the playoffs, ESPN would be eating them alive.

The chuckers kept chucking even though the shots weren't falling for them. Don't blame the refs.

Hibbert played legit D on most of Melo's drives. Do you guys understand the principle of verticality? A defender is allowed to jump straight up and defend the rim. Melo can't just crash into him and expect a call all the time.
