Its not a bad thing to think that Kessel is a better player.

On top of that, you called Carter "not great shakes defensively" ? hmm. I would quit posting for a while...

Earlier I already read that Kessel has a better wrister and Carter a better slapshot. I think Carter has the best wrister in the league but that is debatable but Kessel's is certainly not better. Carter barely ever uses his slapshot. It actually looks very awkward when he does.
I know exactly who jeff carter is, i've watched him since junior. a speedy winger with a great shot, who has never taken advantage of his size, and plays a mostly perimeter game.

Lupe just shouldn't be on this list

he has played less than 80 games in the past two seasons

An opinion is an opinion but Carter has played center on numerous occasions already, its actually his natural position and that's a fact. Something you just refuse to acknowledge. Juniors was indeed the last time you've watched him...but then again...

Lots of wingers play centre occasionally, but don't stay there for long, because they're wingers.

Even kessel has played centre.

Kessel racks up his points in assists mostly, Carter the opposite.
Wait a minute. So first Kessel is only a one dimensional player, but now he only sets other guys up, getting assists? Dude really? Zeke is not incorrect about anything he said. Carter scored 40+ one time and topped 70 points once. He isnt some ppg centre--he is a big bodied 55-65pt winger. Safe to say Kessel is a ppg dynamic explosive winger entering his prime and now has 5 straight 30+ goal seasons (on pace for over 30 this season). Also has increased his goals and point totals every season hes been a Leaf--he is only getting better and better.

Explain.

Last 4 seasons ( including this one )

Carter 253 GP 114 + 76 = 190 PTS .75 PPG

Kessel 278 GP 115 + 132 = 247 PTS .88 PPG

So Kessel's had better numbers and he's been a PPG player last year and this year while Carter's only PPG season was 5 years ago and IIRC the Flyers were an offensive dynamo that year with a great PP.

So no, Carter isn't on par with Kessel offensively right now. Goal scoring is pretty even but Kessel is more diverse offensively. And i've never considered Carter good defensively. He's above average but it doesn't make up for the difference offensively between these 2 players.

I said Kessel is more dynamic offensively, he puts up more points than Carter due to Torontos fast paced tempo racking up goals and assists. If Carter and Kessel both score the same amount of goals but Kessel has 10-15 more assists, and Carter brings more physicality and 2 way play, is it really out of this world to ate him on a team that has weak centre depth? You guys have Bozak, and Kadri as your 1 and 2 centers, if I was a Leafs fan I'd grab Carter. You win cups with strong C depth. You put Carter in Bozaks spot, keep Kadri in the 2c slot, and put Tyler as the 3rd line center where he can utilize his face-off ability in a shut down situation. That would be good management. Kessel may be dynamic, but he's prone to turnovers, and is a bit soft for my liking. I'd take Carter, but nothing against the Leafs. Both great players.

Only on HF boards could a Kessel be so underrated, thats 2 seasons in the top 10 now

Kessel has proven not only to be a top 10 goal scorer in this league, but this season he's also a top 10 playmaker, but only on HFboards could that be considered a negative, how in the world is Kessel so underrated, I swear if he played on any team other then the leafs, he'd be talked about as one of the best players in the NHL

Im not saying Carter is a bad player, maybe him and Kessel where pretty close 3 seasons ago, but Kessel is hands down the better player now and well be for the foreseeable future

Yet Kessel is considered not even remotely in those players class here on HF

This poll isn't even close. It's Kessel by far. 20 more points. Also he was PPG last year and is over PPG this year. He's elite offensively. Carter must be a selke candidate in order for people to even consider Carter in this poll and he isn't. He's not even a two way player. He's an offensive player that can play decent defensively.

To put it simply, they are both offensive players. Kessel is miles better offensively. Therefore he is better.

Going by the people that say Carter's logic, JVR is a better player than Kessel and Carter.

JVR is a big body, has a lot of goal, has more points than Carter, and plays well defensively and gets PK time.

You see how freaking flawed your logic is? Actually a poll with JVR and Carter would be much closer.

He's a top 10 forward, for sure.

I don't care what homers of other fanbases says, the stats speak for themselves.

Oh, and the fact that Kessel is also playing two-dimensionaslly now.
