Any ideas on how to fall asleep?

I don't know whether it's exam stress or what, but I've been having serious trouble getting to sleep lately. And that stupid pickle video didn't help.(no hard feelings, but God that's horrible)

It's 4:33 EST.

I can relate, has happened to me before.

If you don't have some medicine to help you sleep (ie. Melatonin) then my recommendation would just be keep trying to sleep. As stupid as it sounds, eventually it will work. Also, understandibly you are trying to constantly thinking about things regarding your exam. Try not to think of that, as hard as it may be, because it increases your stress and awareness of being awake. Drifting off to sleep i find requires you to more or less think of nothing until your brain comes up with thoughts that become your dreams.

Then again, this is coming from a guy who is currently being driven mad from LPH watching youtube videos of the worst answers of family feud and having to hear it all through xbox.

Worst thing to do is stay awake and surf hf or reddit or whatever you enjoy on the internet.

My go to move is to imagine myself falling asleep in different places. Like I'll picture myself on a camping trip, go through the steps of setting up a tent, rolling our my sleeping bag and getting into it, and think of how relaxing that would be, stuff like that.
The other thing I used to do is listen to some music softly in the background. Queue up a few chill songs while you try and fall asleep, sometimes you'll pass out before they even finish playing, even if not they'll calm you down. Don't do that much anymore, my girlfriend does not appreciate it as much as I do.

I used to have major issues sleeping. I wouldn't fall asleep until like 4am and would sleep in until 12pm, effectively just fostering the cycle the next day.

I found that a hot mug of caffeine-free tea and at least sitting in bed at a reasonable hour (even if it's just to internet surf) helps a lot because you aren't being as stimulated by desktop computers, TV, or whatever.

Also going to the gym a lot started helping that too because I would be balls to the wall tired (even though I'm a girl ) and 8 hr sleep is important for muscle regeneration.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I have 3 exams this week, so wish me luck.(first one is in an hour)

I'm almost tempted to just embrace the wonky sleep pattern and stay up all night studying for my next exams, which are in the mornings, and crash right afterwards.

wrote my econometrics final on 5 hours of sleep and a concussion

might've screwed my future career prospects for good

never take an exam without sufficient sleep and if you don't feel 100% get it checked it asap

I am one of those few who just doesn't find it funny. Outside of the soup Nazi, the show never really tickled my funny bone - ditto for Curb Your Enthusiasm.

IMO it isn't the funniest comedy ever made, but it's the most entertaining comedy out there. (but I still find it very funny)

I think I find Arrested Development to be the funniest.

Arrested Development - the few times I have caught it - has had me in stitches.

My own personal favorite TV comedy of all-time is a bit more obscure - Red Dwarf.

Arrested Development has a ton of subtle jokes that I never noticed the first time I watched the series.

Fact: I almost made my account name "Bob Loblaw" when I first joined HF boards.

Trailer Park Boys for me has to be the funniest show I've ever seen. Arrested Development, Seinfeld, The League, Community are some very good ones but TPB can't be matched. The only thing that can come close is Fawlty Towers.

This is the one, Going threw something repetitive (same each night), that is not stimulating, that you have to go threw steps. and when you catch your mind wondering, start over again. works great, assuming that the problem is not just too much coffee or sugar to late. If I have desert after 830 Im awake till 1.
