Yikes.
I wonder what the Oilers could offer to pry Berglund out of St. Louis... I doubt they lose two of their RFAs but losing one could be very realistic.

Meh, we don't want Berglund. I know he is a big bodied forward but he has been in many a coach's doghouse for mailing it in on a regular basis. We need a skilled crasher who can motivate and elevate his teammates, probably the biggest reason I would never take Penner back either. This current Oilers team needs leaders not more unmotivated passengers.

We should try to pry Sergei Kostitsyn from Nashville.

He's a master at mailing it in. He could really teach our kids about giving up.

The Oilers aren't looking to find a goaltender that's better than Dubnyk to replace him, because Dubnyk has had a pretty good season. They're looking for a goaltender to push him or provide some quality depth.
Ray Emery on a 3 year deal at 2.5M per season?

I feel like MacT is going to dangle our first rounder now that we probably won't be drafting top 3. I'd be okay with that.

I would like Mac to inquire on Jonathan Bernier for a goalie but if the price is to much there is always goalies to find in UFA.

We should trade down.

Yes, it's fun to think about shiny new toys in the draft, but i'm tired of getting into that mindset.

Our first rounder is still a very valuable asset and if there's a deal to be had for solid help right now, we should take it

Callahan scored in OT yesterday to clinch the Rangers the spot. My first thought: "Man, must be nice to have a captain that steps up and delivers when the team needs it the most."

Horcoff's captaincy is such a burden to this team. I hate having to wait out his contract before we can have an appropriate captain.

I have this feeling that we end up with Luongo this summer. Don't ask me why but I just feel it's gonna happen.

What are people's thoughts on Alex Burmistrov? By the sounds of it he may have played his last game as a Jet..
6'1" 180 lbs centreman, former top 10 pick
According to this article he lead the Jets in Corsi http://www.arcticicehockey.com/2013/...nipeg-jets-pdo

Based on his numbers he might be had for a reasonable price. Possibly Russian linemate for Nail.

I've never seen him play, anyone have thoughts on him?

I think we have a lot bigger fish to fry than our .920 SV% goalie

I don't disagree with you. Like I said, it's just a feeling.

I used to like him allot but something happened to him this year, he was healthy scratched I think. If we don't have to give up too much I would take a chance on him.

Nope. Omark with better defence. Finds being benched a laughable experience which resulted in him not being dressed for several games.

I think you mean trade the pick away, because you aren't going to get any kind of "help now" assets by trading down a few spots. By trading down, we will likely get some more picks in later rounds, like we did in 2003, which worked out horribly. Pick the BPA or trade the pick in a hockey deal, no trading down.

Would Philly deal Couturier to us for our 1st round pick? They get to choose between Nurse and the other top D and we get a C with size that is a little further ahead in his development than a Monahan or Lindholm.

I like Nurse a lot, but I'd have to consider this.

If you draft Nurse does that imply that you are fine with Gagner as our 2C going forward? Nurse is a tough kid and a big fella already, if I was more comfortable with our center situation I'd be fully in favor of taking him. That said this draft is full of high quality centers and IMO we need to take advantage of that.

I'd be sorta OK with Gagner there, but they really would have to go get a Steve Ott/RJ Umberger type in that case to play 3C or go find a Jarret Stoll type somehow.
