Adding Fuel to the Fire -- Richards article

Quote:
Mike Richards Joins Jeff Carter as Phantoms Continue Playoff Run

He is often described as the type of player that the opposition hates to play against, which might be the biggest compliment one can receive as a professional athlete.

Phantoms center Mike Richards, listed at six-feet tall and 192 pounds, might not be the biggest or most frightening guy in the locker room. When he steps out onto the ice, however, it is impossible not to notice him. He plays with the type of fire and passion that has resulted in him being perceived as a team leader from a young age. And he’s still only 20.

Great article, been very impressed with the play of the Richards, Carter, Umberger. kinda wish Ruzka(sp?) had been able to come and play.

During one media session during the first intermission of Game One of the East Division Finals, Clarke mentioned that both Richards and Carter will be on the Flyers’ roster next season.
Not that the above was much of a surprise, but....

Family problems back in the homeland, they told him to go home which is fine. Family is first.

In the article, Clarkie says that "at least, six or seven current Phantoms will be on the Flyers Roster next season" ! This is impressive!
Carter, Richards, Pitkänen, Seidenberg, Niittymäki, Umberger, Fedoruk. Here are the winners!

yeah, Sharp definitely up over Umberger... I would think Brashear is going to go by the wayside -- thank god -- and Fedoruk will take his role. depending where the chips fall, good chance Umberger will be playing wing for the team as well... very interesting what the roster is going to look like.

Bettman better not screw us out of next years season too. If I don't get to see these kids in orange and black there will be many an angry e-mail/letters.

I'm no so sure Fedoruk's spot on the roster next year is anywhere
near a lock. Brashear's days have been numbered since the the middle
of last season, but I think Fedoruk will start off next season with
the Phantoms until Clarke and the rest of the NHL figure out what
kind of style of hockey everyone will be playing. If there is room
for a Fedoruk type of player on the roster, Brashear should be shown the
door; Fedoruk is the player I want to see on the ice roughing it up.
I just hope he developed a little more hockey sense while in the AHL.
