Well I stand corrected on the MCL issue. Aside from that I still feel Peters as a backup is a problem that should be addressed.

won't disagree with that one bit. Almost think the team needs to bite the bullet and keep him in the minors this season, while bringing in someone else to back up Cam. There are a ton of much better goalies hitting the market this offseason, and only a few spots that look open to be claimed right now.

With that said, I think Bryzgalov is as good as gone to the KHL. He'll make a mint over there and the NHL will lose one of its most honest players. I really love Bryzgalov.

The Rangers? Don't forget he went all Rex Ryan and got a tattoo of Vigneault in a Kesler jersey

Shattenkirk gets 17 mil for 4 years. With these contracts young defenseman are getting, I'm very optimistic about getting Faulk signed to an affordable extension.

annnnnnnnnnd Vinny's been bought out.

still waiting on hearing that Luongo's been amnestied. Nucks will probably try shipping him around at the draft first though, but I really can't imagine that they can find a taker now that TO has Bernier.

Wonder who Vinny will sign with. He once said he doesn't want Montreal. I'd love to see a team like cbus get him, but you know TO will make a big push, especially letting bozak go and keeping grabs. I was wondering what nonis was thinking not signing bozak, but vinny would be a good catch. I could see the rangers going for him, Philly, Calgary would pay through the nose but I doubt he wants that.

He could go anywhere he wants outside of the canes and tb. Could give Detroit a discount to play there. That would be awesome.

Will be hilarious when he gets $5-6 million to go play somewhere else and ends up as the highest paid player in the league for the next 5 years due to the buyout.

Works out well for him, getting paid nearly 1.5x as much as Crosby.

Vinny as 3C so he can play on our third line with Skinner? We'd just then need Briere to flesh that line out

So maybe we actually CAN get the #6 pick and the #22 from Calgary for the #5, AND still end up with Nichushkin if Feaster's this drunk.

Eh, not bad for Calgary. Tanguay is a sexier name but Jones does the dirty work.

Sarich for O'Brien is a wash. And the Flames get the younger 2 out of the 4 involved.

see I'm not so sure. Jones is overpaid even more then Ruutu at this point, and O'Brien is outright garbage, his production was on par or worse then that of Chad LaRose throughout his career for more then twice the price. Sarich is serviceable as a #6 guy at this point, and while Tanguay's a shell of his former self he's still the best player in this deal.

Letang reportedly turned down an 8 year, 56 million dollar offer from the Penguins. Pittsburgh might make the draft pretty interesting for the second year in a row.

Hot Spicy meatball! I wonder if JR's interested considering that he was guranteed to overpay for Suter.

The package required for acquiring Letang was said to be 1st, roster player, and top prospect. I'm not going to give that up for Letang.

There's a big difference between Suter and Letang.

Letang is a great player, but I can't see how Carolina does and fits his $7.5M salary under the cap and still be able to improve the team. For instance, say the deal above goes through (Pitkanen, Murphy and 1st) and the Canes can sign him to an extension. That will work for this coming season due to Letang's current contract.

The following season the Canes have ~$19.5M in cap space with 9 players signed. After Letang, it leaves the Canes with $12M with only 10 players signed. Assume that Faulk and Tlusty will eat up $7M, so that leaves $5M left to sign 11 players (two 3rd line forwards, 3 fourth line forwards, 1 extra forward, 1 top four D, 2 six/seven D, and a back-up goalie. Getting rid of a forward (such as Ruutu) only adds another hole to the roster and still doesn't allow it to work well from a cap standpoint either, unless all those slots are basically filled by league min. guys.
