New Sioux Falls Head Coach?

I've been hearing/reading stuff (and USHR is also reporting it) that Kevin Hartzell is the Stampede's new coach and that before Hartzell was supposedly tapped, UND's Cary Eades' name was among the candidates for the job. The Stampede site nor the USHL site doesn't have it in their press releases sections.

Is it a done deal or just rumors flying around? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

What do you think of the Hartzell hiring? Is going to be able to help/improve Sioux Falls?

Hartzell

Well, I think he definitely sounds promising, but so have some of the other coaches that have been with Sioux Falls after Bob Motzko. But Hartzell might know more about the USHL than some of the other coaches. I know Gasparini played goalie here in Omaha back in 93 or 94 I think it was. But Hartzell has shown success at every level so far, so hopefully he can give the Stampede a boost. His winning percentage puts him right up there with Siciliano and Hastings, so he's definitely in good company. But I really think he can't do much worse than what the Stampede have had the last few years. They've always been competitive, but they've missed the playoffs for the last 2 or 3 seasons now, so I only see the Stampede going up from here. I think his ties with Herb Brooks will definitely help his coaching strategies, etc., so I'm excited for the Stampede. It will make for an even tougher West Division next year though, unless there is off season movement in divisions or new teams. I've heard rumors they may go back to just a 1-8 seeding without 1-4 from the east and 1-4 from the west, which would mean Sioux Falls would have made it this year. It'll be interesting though.

Stampede

I'd like to see the Stampede make the playoffs again. I remember the great players that came through that system when Gasparini recruited and Motzko was the Head Coach. And I wish them success. I hope the league rethinks their playoff policy too, because the Stampede are getting gyped.
